NASA is needed they are the elite when it comes to so many micro levels of scientific research. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
They have accomplished some impressive things. |

NASA is a perfect example of how we should be leading the world. By setting examples.
Watching Mars Phoenix land was amazing. |

NASA has not just benifited scientific research, it has also improved life here on Earth. NASA is
ultimately paving the way to return to the moon by 2020 and reach mars with humans by 2035. NASA's
vision for space exploration is part of a grand plan to expand the human race beyond this planet
with permanent settlements on the moon. |

Why not? They made a way for humans to walk on the moon!!! |

Anyone who seriously thinks that NASA is not important or is not doing anything right now needs to
watch NASA TV or needs to do more research. NASA is on the cutting edge of science and technology,
and its something that impacts the lives of every one on earth. Communications, medicine, weather,
and climate are all a result of studies by NASA. Not to mention a lot of the research that is going
on in the solar system and beyond is furthering our knowledge about our galaxy and our place in the
Universe. |

Yes, NASA is doing a lot in opening new horizons for us and widening the existing ones. And above
all its the best space agency in the world and if there was no NASA space technology would have been
many many years behind its present state. |

Absolutely right. NASA is doing magnificent things. They are the true leaders of the Human Beings in
finding new horizons.
They are spending huge amount on research for the betterment of the Human Beings. |

True! NASA is by far the best space agency in the world! |

Yeah definitely if i was able to get in to fly rockets i would!!!!!! |

"One small step for man one leap for mankind. Okay now that we've done that lets go home." NASA is
stale. We went to the moon! Great!!! Now what? Do the the same thing over and over again just to
prove that they're doing something. Is it going to take the threat of another country accomplishing
something better than ours to spur NASA's reach to greater distances again? How long did it take
NASA to go to the moon and what have they really accomplished since then? They're waisting their
time and money when they could be using it to try and achieve greater things. |

Nasa is overrated. First, the moon landings were faked because it could not manage doing them for
real, setting off decades of controversy and conspiracy theories about government. This corroded
public trust in the functioning of democracy, and rightly so.
Second, the Space Shuttle program has been an absolute disaster. The whole concept of the shuttle
program was to reduce the cost of space flight. Because the core vehicle was reusable, it would
prove to be cheaper than using throwaway rockets, the argument ran. But that has simply not been the
case. The cost per mission hasn't fallen at all. So the whole thing was massively misconceived. It's
also extremely dangerous. There have been many deaths related to the Shuttle program. Continued use
of throwaway rockets would have been preferable.
People in the West often laugh at Russia and its creaky equipment, submarines in chronic danger of
sinking, spacecraft constantly on the verge of blowing up etc. But Russia hasn't had an astronaut
death in its space program for decades. The US has had many. NASA has failed to match the safety
record of a much poorer and less technologically advanced country. Poor.
The International Space Station was a joint international project, not a NASA project, but NASA let
its partners down. If the station had been reliant on NASA alone, it would have failed. Russian and
European space missions were required to fill in the gaps when NASA could not keep up with the ISS's
requirements because of its appalling safety record and the grounding of all shuttles.
NASA has also allowed itself to be politicised. When a NASA researcher published studies about the
effects of climate change, word came from the Bush administration to shut him up. The NASA
management hierarchy accepted this political interference and tried to silence the researcher. That
was an absolute disgrace.
All things considered, it should be clear that NASA has failed badly as an institution. |
