I knew a girl who got bullied on Myspace for a long time and ended up commiting suicide because of
the pressure so I think it is unsafe |

I know you can change settings to make MySpace more safe but I find it too global. And some things
take ages to load so there's not much trust there.
I prefer Facebook because everything is compact, easy and the design layout is effective. Less
random people have the chance to add me. |

People can say whatever they want, but the reality is that parents don't do squat about their kids'
online life, so MySpace isn't safe. |

Of course not, people are giving out personal information and that can lead to trouble. |

I don't really think that myspace is not safe....i think that the child/children... Need to be
taught not to talk to people they don't know...because they have the choice of weather or not it is
really safe...and is any website really safe...... |

I think that it is unsafe but so is yahoo msn ... Kids need to be taught that not all people that
you talk to online is not the nicest person. Teach them not to give out personal information it can
cause damage to themselves and to the family members too... Its unsafe.... If they want account let
them have one just make sure that you can get online and check there things every now and then. If
they are underage let them know that mean people will talk to them... Maybe with the help of the
parents it can be as safe as possible but that's too every website too...! Not just myspace myspace
just happens to be the website where every one goes too |

It would be safe if half the retards on there didn't put all of their personal info and who they
are. |

Myspace is safe and most of the people that have gotten raped and killed went to meet the person in
person so
that's why you only add the people that you know |

My space is cool because it can be fun and you can have friends just not ones you know |

There are plenty of settings that you can choose on MySpace to make it safe to use. If you read
through the FAQ on the site, there is a guide for parents to read in order for them to make the site
safe for their child to use.
To make it very safe, the simple option would be to set your profile to private as that will make
people who you don't know more reluctant to add you as a friend.
Sadly, it isn't just social networking websites that are unsafe, although I do agree that these are
the type of sites that do lead to people risking their lives and meeting up with strangers. Children
should be monitored at all times. Parents should allow their children to use the site, but only for
the purpose of keeping in touch with friends and not adding people to their friends list who they do
not know. If anyone who the child does not know gets in touch with them, then the parent is able to
block that user to stop them from pestering their child again.
Sadly, once a child becomes a certain age, such as in their late teens or early twenties, the parent
can no longer monitor them in the same way, as they are old enough to make their own decisions on
whether or not they meet up with a stranger.
However, if a parent raises their child to be extra cautious of who they meet and helps them to
understand the dangers of meeting people they do not know, then hopefully they will be able to make
the sensible decision of saying no to the person who has asked them to meet up. |

While MySpace certainly can be unsafe, so can any website anywhere on the net. Parents need to
monitor their kids net usage and be aware what they're doing and where they're going at all times. |
