Yes.
It takes time to wear down the borders of oppression by virtue of being born a specific gender in an
oppressive country with overbearing rules and inequality.
It takes time to change things. |

Muslims should be able to vote for who they think is the best. They should have the freedom like
everybody else, even if their face is covered by a veil. |

Allowing Muslim women who choose to cover their face with a veil when casting their ballot in
elections is a human rights issue and this practice does not at all compromise the electoral
process, nor does it increase the likelihood of fraud. Only a minority of Muslim women in western
countries choose to wear a veil. As such, election officials need not fear that their ballot offices
will be inundated with voters who come to vote with covered faces.
A number of steps can be taken to ensure that this system is not abused and that it does not lead to
fraudulent practices. For example, Muslim women who choose to vote with a concealed face must be
required to produce two pieces of photo ID. If they are unable to do so, they should still be
allowed to vote, as long as they are willing to complete an official attestation, concerning their
identity and can also bring with them someone who can serve as a witness, in order to confirm their
identity. If none of these conditions are satisfied, the voter should still be allowed to cast her
ballot, as long as she is willing to reveal her face to a female elections employee.
Although the Elections Canada ruling concerning veils provoked a great deal of debate and
controversy, as well as a partial retraction following a vote in the House of Commons, this decision
is a prime example of how a truly liberal and multicultural society should function. |

I do not believe that Muslim women should be allowed to go out in public with their face covered.
Regardless of rather it is their religion or not, there is too much crime in today's world. By
hiding their face, they are hiding their identity. They should have to show their face and their ID
when they vote. Simply showing an ID is not enough. That does not prove who they are. Anyone can
hide their face and give a fake ID. Anytime a Muslim woman shows an ID, she should be forced to do
it with her face uncovered. What other way can they verify the ID? Allowing Muslim women to wear a
veil when they present an ID for voting or anything action is like allowing a bank robber to wear a
ski mask in the bank. Veils covering the face should be worn in church if it is religion, not in
public, I hate when I see Muslim women with their face covered up. I makes me feel that they are
hiding something and makes me distrust Muslim people than much more |

I agree that if we lived in a crimeless country, that would be a great law. However, we have to be
able to use proper identification |

They fight to take it off over there, over here they fight to keep it on. It doesn't say anywhere
they have to cover there face anyway. That's a cultural development . Secondly, this is America, not
the middle east. I'm sure it was very intimidating for the poor girl as she was being asked to take
it off, but i bet it was other people that don't even wear that thing that made a big deal out of
it. If she really had a problem, she can go back to her home land were she'll have nothing to worry
about, except maybe an occasional car bomb. I mean, let's be real. I see, where you'd be coming
from, I really do. A perfect utopia, a true melting pot, where Jews, blacks, whites and Muslims can
live side be side in perfect harmony. I'm going to venture and say were pretty darn close. Its not
like we tell them they can't where it at all, for the most part I can honestly say we respect
peoples dignity. At least 10 times better then anywhere else. |
