| Most Women Really Don't Want Equality |
| Most women who say they desire equality only really want it selectively, if at all. For instance, many successful women still try to marry well with the intention and expectation of being taken care of, and having their needs met by their repective men. No, they don't really want equality. Most women just want to feel like as though can have equality when they want it. |

I agree. Many women I know talk a good talk but don't want to walk the walk. They don't want
equality at all. However I think they want the balance in their favor and currently it is, they
just dont' see it! Women and men have always worked and contributed to life. Did they always do
the same things? NO. That doesn't mean they weren't equal. It means that they were doing things in
a way that was most benificial to the survival of them and their family.
I agree that if men and women are at the same job doing the same thing it is only fair to pay them
the same wage. However these days there is a lot more funding and grants for women to attend
college.
So my sons are at a disadvantage applying for scholarships and grantsfor college since they do not
have access to this funding. When they finish school, they will have higher loans and also be
paying higher car insurance in their early twenties. I wouldn't call that equal.
No many women don't want equality. They may say that. But when it comes to selecting a partner,
most expect the partner to make the same or more money than they do. The ones that make much more
money than a partner often look down on them and resent them for not being able to match them,
however they like being in that position of power finacially and don't see they wouldn't like to be
treated the way they treat their spouse either.
People talk it, but their actions don't show it. |

Are you kidding? I've been trying for years to talk my wife into getting rich so she can support me.
Anyway while there are certainly some women (and men), who would like such an arrangement, that is
hardly an accurate characterization of most women. |

Lol I am successful and I will be d@mned when the day comes that I want a MAN to take care of me.
The only person who can truly take care of me is ME. Some women DO want to be taken care of, but not
all of us thank you very much. Please don't generalize. The moment anyone depends on someone else
for their security or happiness is the moment they make themselves very vulnerable. No thank you.
Someday the "playing field" will be even.. Maybe when people stop GENERALIZING. |

It kind of seems that way, but don't men do that too? They want every oppurtunity as the next guy,
but when they come home they want their wives to pamper them. All anyone wants is the pursuit of
happiness. Of course, there are people like extreme female activists who gripe all the time, and
frankly, they're just plain annoying. |

It's funny that your other post is the claim men looking at photos of other women equals cheating
(clearly an anti-male post) and now you flip to women not really wanting equality (clearly an
anti-female post). Whose side are you on, anyone's? Combined it seems to me your take on life is
we all should be living pre-WWII style with Leave it to Beaver families in which the women are
happily subservient to men and the men are as pure as Ward Cleaver. What a joke. Even back in
those good old days there were plenty of couples who broke the norms, and much of the good behavior
was a facade - the husband/father keeping home as sterile as church but then going out to score
hookers or male prostitutes.
Anyway, for this debate post I disagree with "most" as well as "don't want equality". There is no
quantifiable evidence presented of "most", nor are the behaviors you mentioned consistent in every
town, nation, race, or age range. And exhibiting behaviors contrary to equality is not the same as
not wanting equality. You can want to quite smoking but fail to do it, but that doesn't mean you
never really wanted to quit.
Finally, I'll add that what women really want is a fair opportunity at self fulfillment (whether it
be at a job or in the home or whatever). Wanting an opportunity is not the same as 100% down the
middle equal division of every aspect of life. |
