Most People Are Caught Up In A ''VICE!''
I think life is so much better if you are ''VICE FREE!'' Anyone who agrees that Cigarettes, Alcohol, Gambling, Drug Addiction, or Pornography is good for you is a blithering idiot!

People caught up in vices are weak. We all have weaknesses, but we should fight them, not accept them.

There is a case for red wine apparently LOL I usually opt for the case with three extra Rioja bottles free.

Red wine is quite well documented for lowering bad cholesterol, raising good cholesterol, and relaxing your vasculature. It's mainly the bitter parts, known as tannins, and the compounds that add that touch of bitter cause blood vessels to relax. And yes other foods are known to do that too, even grape juice is partly effective, but red wine is profoundly effective.

Try the reds from Madiran region of France, they use the Tannat grape and score the highest in the world for these health promoting benefits.

Yes Respire, he is a genius. Now I must get back to smoking my Marlboro, drinking some Jack, watching Debbie does Dallas, and placing online bets.

First of all, it depends on how you're using the definition because there is a greater and a lesser meaning. The greater meaning being that a vice is something that society would consider immoral or degrading. The lesser meaning would be that a vice is just a defect or a bad habit.

Having said that, I agree with your topic debate of the majority of the people having vices because we're only human; our willpower is not unlimited and eventually we all break down.

Now I drink, gamble, and watch porn, but I consider none of these immoral, degrading, a defect or a bad habit because I do not abuse the above mentioned activities. I guess you could say that they're not my vices, but rather things that I do. I can see though how the abuse of one or more of these things would be bad for a person's overall well-being.

I agree but before you make that judgement you should find out what the person was really doing and/or saying. It's not fair to assume someone is caught up in something if they are not.

Most ''Rock Super Stars,'' for example are: ''Blithering Idiots,'' yet they, and their life styles are idolised by millions. Where is the sense in that?

I think part of the human experience is exploring that side of humanity. I often find myself more repulsed by those with complete virtue than those without. There is a lot of dark places. Without experience of them, you dont really have the right to pontificate about them.

As your Winston Churchill said of Sir Cripps, “He has all of the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire.” Of course anything may be taken too far but personally I find much of the point of life in feeding my many vices. You’ve heard of the 100 year old man who went to the doctor for a checkup? Afterwards he asked the doctor if he would live for another hundred years. The doctor asked if he drank liquor, “never does the demon drink pass my lips.” The doctor asked if he smoked, “I would die before the devils breath would enter my body.” The doctor asked if he fornicated, “My body is a temple to chastity.” So finally the doctor looked the old man in the eye and asked, “Then why in the world do you care if you keep on living?”
Tell you what pussycat Dan, you may keep your skin deep appearance of virtue and piety and I’ll keep my many and varied personal vices, while actually being someone that in my work and in my life contributes to my community. Real virtue will never be found casting down judgments from an ivory tower. Real virtue can only happen down in the mud and blood and viscera where people actually live, love, and die.
