| More SHOULD Be Done To Educate People On Mental Illness |
| There is much stigma attached to mental illness in the general public, but 1 in 4 of us will suffer from it at some point in our lives. Why is it that people feel ashamed in admitting that they have a mental illness (whether; depression, anxiety disorder, personality disorder or an eating disorder), but for other illnesses or injuries, where the effects are physically apparent, this is not so? I think that this is due to a lack of understanding and empathy towards the mentally ill. Unless we can empathise, it remains an alien (some would say evil) illness! |

We do need more education on mental illness and how to deal with it ourselves and how to help others
deal with it.
I don't endorse any of the medications offered to cure mental illness because of the side effects
which cause some to commit suicide if a person should stop taking their medication abruptly. |

Many people do not understand the definition of mental illness. Until it strikes someone close to
them and they see the results of dealing with a mental illness, people really could care less. Many
people refuse to admit that they have a mental illness. However, without treatment, it will just get
worse. Everyone in their lives at one point in time will need some sort of mental help. Whether it
be when a loved one dies, something life changing happens or it just falls in their lap. It is not
something to sneeze at. It will not go away on its own. Having an illmess such as depression is
something that a doctor and counselor should help with. Youmay get depressed and a few months later
think that it has gone away, only for it to reappear a few more months down the road. The public
needs to be informed of the staggering rates of people with depression or other mental illnesses so
that they know they are not alone and are not afraid of treatment. |

It is a very relevant fact that people are not so aware about mental illness and rather they think
that being mentally ill means that he or she has turned out to be mentally retarded or mad. But it
is actually not so, any kind of depression is also mental illness and this can often cause problem.
Often people face anxiety disorder or develop a phobia for something. These all are mental illness
but they do not make somebody mentally retarded only if we take proper care at a very early stage of
its development and for that we need to acquire proper knowledge and education about the topic. Thus
it is advisable that we should educate people on mental illness so that they do not hide their
problems and become capable of explaining their illness as and when required. |

I agree. I don't have a problem saying that I suffered from depression a few months ago and I can be
in and out of depression in a finger snap(not severe or anything). I am currently SUPER happy for no
reason at all.lol.=)) People should do more things to help people with depression, personality
disorder, and eating disorder, or an anxiety disorder. |

More should be done to criminalize the verbally-assaultive and dictatorial self-righteously
pretentious elite: So-called "experts".
Love all others as you yourself wish and expect to be loved and accepted.
That, is fair and acceptable behaviour in any country. |
