We should,
we are running out of men and or women to send to Iraq. A draft isn't the only way to help but it
might for a while until we get back or our feet. |

Would somebody shut that door. |

Yes, and we should ship you out first boat that leaves;-)
(just kidding;-) |

I agree. If anyone should have a good beer, it's the military. |

Then go and sign up. There's "selective registration" forms at your local post office, right now.
Yes, we are currently registering our young men and women for forced conscription into our military.
Free travel to exciting, exotic locations all around the world!
Of course, you might die. But what's life without a few risks?
The best thing about a draft is that it would re-integrate our "foreign activities" back into the
American conscience, as the all-volunteer force is a very segregated part of society these days.
I am against our "war-like" tendencies, but as long as we're spending over half of our national
wealth, and betting our entire future on those tendencies, then we should have a draft, and start
with all eligible sons and daughters of both houses of Congress, no exception.
The next president will surely institute it, unless he's Ron Paul. Okay, the next president will
surely institute it. |

There is not need for a draft at this time. |

Exactly why should we have a draft? The only reason to have a draft is in an emergency when we need
to mobilize large numbers of people and the current military is understaffed. That certainly isn't
the case in the modern military, in fact, the chances of ever having a draft again in the United
States is somewhere between slim and none. |

No, you cant MAKE someone fight against their will. Fi the people handing out the draft notices need
more people in the army then they can join them selves. |

I don't usually disagree with you grokit, but I think you've missed the boat here.
A draft is needed when the military doesn't have enough soldiers to meet it's obligations. Prior to
any draft being instituted American forces need to be removed from UN service.
Second, we're not even at that point. The number of soldiers in Iraq will be decreasing. We are
winning and will win in Iraq unless someone like Ron Paul or Barack Obama get elected. I am not
concerned about either of them.
I know that many want to blame the "destruction of the US military" on W, but the truth is that W
did no such thing. I'm sure you'll agree that it only takes a tiny bit of intellectual honesty to
know that IF the US military has been "destroyed", it has far more to do with the drastic
down-sizing and decreased spending implemented by Clinton.
I personally think the military is just fine and will be going forward.
The notion of rampant "stop-losses" was never an "issue" until Hollyweird got it's hands on the
term. Stop losses are not that common. I agree they suck, but lets not pretend like they're really
going on to the extent that one movie would have you believe.
By the way, doesn't McCain have a couple boys serving or who have served during the war? I think he
does... |

Having a military draft is a ignorant idea.
People are volunteering for it because they want to serve so let them . Don't make people who don't
want to serve, serve.
Were suppose to have have freedom, that means in making our own decisions too. If someone decides
to then that's there choice. Our so called "war-like tendencies" are better than when your ideas. I
disagree with war in general but your idea of making people do something they want to do is unfair
to many. |
