Methadone Doesn't Solve Any Addiction Problem At All It Makes It Worse!
I have never seen one person successfully get off drugs by going to these clinics.there problems and addiction just get worse.and there doctors an counselors don't do there jobs properly nor care about the safety and welfare of there clients or familys.all there worried about is keeping these people there so they have there job security.there objectives an purposes are distorted by there personal gain.there not focusing on making these people productive members of society.this place is a crock.an needs shut down.its like giiving an alcoholic liquer to get off beer.what !

I was a heroin addict and had many friends who were we all took different routes to tackling our addictions i went to a clinic where i went cold turkey and although it wasn't easy i have been clean ever since some of my friends who took the methordon route are back on heroin others just cant survive with out there methordon so here are the sutistics for my group of friends.

6 did cold turkey 7 including me 4 got clean and stayed clean, two relapsed and then did cold turkey again second time succeeding one relapsed and tried methode and is still on it we all tried to get clean at the same time. I was 17 at the time and am now 24

8 tried methodon to get clean, is now clean of both drugs, although after many relapses. Six are still on methodon, and still use heroin, and one is just on the methordon, but no heroin again all started trying to get clean roughly the same time as me.

I think that pretty much says it all don't you.

I agree, you can't give a drug to get off drugs, sometimes it works temporarily, but if they never heal the reason the person started in the first place, they fight it the rest of their life. If you know people with these problems they can help themselves by going to emofree.com this is not my web site, I just know it works.

Yes all the way. I just read and eye-opening book called "smack" about a group of people addicted to heroin. It shows how the main character even became addicted to methadone after heroin, and it was even more addicting. Whether you agree or not, just read the book. You'll see.

It is definitely sad how heroin messes up your life. The methadone doesn't make it worse its just the reality of how far gone it gets you. Methadone is more like a six pack to someone who usually drinks a twelve pack. Drugs become a part of your life they aren't just a staple adjective on your resume.

I have an uncle that has been an addict since 16 years old, he is now in his 50's. He used the clinics to get free drugs, once he could afford heroin again, he would leave the treatment and continue on the heroin until he was out of money or could not steal enough to get it. They don't work.

I agree that Substituting one drug for another is not going to solve anything, But surly it is better than going 'cold turkey' ?

I think they help keep addicts out of jail and prison because they provide a legal way for addicts to get their cravings met. I do agree that they are self-perpetuating as are prisons in that neither tries to keep their clientele from coming back.

I think these clinics do work. But they are only their, for when the addicts WANT help. They cannot help somebody who doesn't want saving. Addicts families or doctors refer them to these institutions, but if the addict is only there on this basis it's a pretty pointless task. It's like any addiction until the addict is ready to be helped nothing can be done for them. That's why these clinics are failing. Addicts who don't want help are being begged to seek help from their family/ doctor. Until the addict admits defeat and deems theirself in need of help they cannot be saved by these clinics
