I agree, math is pointless. We have technology we can use. And if your going into a different field
math doesn't matter |

I'm studying nursing in college and believe me, Mathematics is kinda important to know when you have
to decide exactly how much morphine someone can handle or measure how much they need and all the
other exciting things like a pharmacist has to count pills and the dudes that make the pills measure
how much ingredients go into what and all that stuff |

If you think it's not important, I can only hope you learn one day that what is "important" in your
world right now won't be what's important to you when you grow up. |

Mathematics is a significant concept that you need to learn. You do use it in every day life, and
nearly every job requires you to know math to some extent. But that's what troubles most. What we
learn in school is far more complicated then what most of us need to know for our future job. I
can't ever see myself in a situation where I have to find the equation of a line. |

Mathematics isn't important...if you don't want to be a doctor, an engineer, a physicist, a
researcher, a historian, a teacher, a chemist, etc. Etc. Etc.
Or to put it simply, mathematics isn't important if your career ambitions are no higher than
janitor, Walmart employee or burger flipper. |

Math is very important. The problem is, and I realized this when I tutored math, the best math
teachers go to the student who show aptitude. The kids that don’t take to it naturally get these
frustrated angry condescending teachers that classify all the students as math idiots before they
even meet them. My specialty was algebra which was where the system starts to lose a lot of kids.
Half of what I did was just convincing these kids that they could do it. Once you got them past that
a little extra individual work was all they needed. |
