If alcohol and cigarettes are legal, then why shouldn't weed be legal? Weed isn't nearly as
destructive as alcohol or fags, in fact, it has medicinal properties. So why is it illegal? Because
it would be difficult to tax weed, and we all know that that's why they kept fags and booze legal:
They could make money off it. |

Most marijuana hype is just that - hype. I feel Marijuana should be legalized. |

Maijuana smells like feces and its users are, in general, less educated and less ambitious in their
lives and career prospects. Its regular users are lower class and tend to be poorly motivated in
life even before they begin using. In short, they're losers and low-lifes.
Having said that, there are no scientific studies which show marijuana to be harmful or dangerous.
It is not addictive, does not cause cancer, does not lead to other drug use or crime (because of its
price) and does not make people "smoke and drive". The only negative thing that can be said of
marijuana and THC, it's active ingredient, is that regular use (i.e. Several times per week) can
slow everyday thought processes, but this stops after use ceases.
Alcohol is far more dangerous. It is both a depressant AND a stimulant. Use of alcohol leaves
people less able to control their actions and behaviour, yet makes people more willing to do things
they would not do when sober. It is also addictive, causes organ damage (liver, kidney, brain, et
al) and certain alcohols (e.g. Whiskey, absinthe) have even been known to cause cancer because of
the ingredients or creation process.
The only substances which are actually more harmful than alcohol are tobacco, LSD, PCP, and
methamphetamine (ask CNN's Richard Quest about that one).
I would never use marijuana and would never associate with those who do, but I don't object to
people having it. Then again, it's legal to possess and use in my country. |

Speaking as a person who practices alternative medicine with plants it is my opinion that Marijuana
should be legal. I see no reason for alcohol to be on the planet at all. It does nothing but destroy
lives in more than one way. Ever seen someone go through a alcohol with drawl????? Its not pretty.
Ever see anyone go through a marijuana withdrawal??? I didn't think so. Its not addictive at all. It
has medicinal properties and is good to use for cancer treatments and more than one cancer treatment
and more than one way to use it in treatments... It should be legalized and allowed to be used in
medicine without any repercussions or legal problems. Its a good choice and a safe and natural
choice. |

Yes, I believe that the alcohol should be banned and replaced by marijuana. There would still be
drunk driving and such but it'd be called driving while under the influence of drugs. It would lower
the the death rate about teenagers drastically. Since it's almost impossible to die from a
marijuana OD then to die from alcohol poisoning. |

No. Smoking is dangerous in general. Alcohol is actually beneficial to old people. Also, Marijuana
is bad because it seems to drive people to do bad thinks. I saw a story on CNN about some pothead in
Ohio who FORCED A BABY to smoke marijuana. |

Marijuana is a kind of dried leaf of hemp which is used as a drug in cigarettes. This causes
terrible damage to the body and may cause even serious issues if not controlled at an earlier stage.
Thus if this is legalized then people will start having it more and more and they will be prone to
many serious diseases and might end up losing their lives. Alcohol is one such thing which may not
cause that much harm to you if you know how to control yourself, but if you start getting
intoxicated with alcohol and get addicted to it seriously then it may be harmful. But in case of
marijuana it is for sure that it will harm your health in every possible way so it is always advised
that legalization of marijuana must not be encouraged in place of alcohol. |

Not in place of alcohol....maybe legal but in place of alcohol would be like trading five dollars
for five cents alcohol is consumed by everyone |

There is no way to justifying banning one while sanctioning the other. Either both should be legal
or none. I agree that marijuana is less harmful than alcohol, but use of alcohol is probably too
deeply rooted in our culture to make banning it a practical possibility, as American experience in
the Prohibition era demonstrates. So both marijuana and alcohol should be legal in my opinion. |

I think both should be legal. But Pot should be very heavily taxed - like cigarettes. It would raise
tons of money for the government. |
