Why is it that everyone who complains about legallizing pot is always doing so with a beer in their
hand? If the government was really concerned about public health there would be no alcoholic
beverages! The government problem is weed is just that - a weed which will grow almost anywhere
under poor conditions. Making your own alcohol is harder and more time consuming. Alcohol is easier
to control and tax. Pot does not cause the use of harder drugs, peer presure does. But look at ALL
the problems alcohol has caused and because they can readily tax it, it is legal! It all boils down
to money! If the government can't make a lot of money on it then it will never be legal. |

Im not saying that im for weed being used, but most people who use weed is teens doing it to be
'cool' because they are doing something that they arent allowed to do, like how people do underage
drinkiing, they are doing it because its 'hardcore' to do something your not allowed. All that goes
through their minds are 'rules are meant to be broken' so it wouldn't be so cool to do weed,
because anyone can do it, and they would learn that really messes you up. |

The numbers speak for themselves on marijuana. No one dies, no one goes to jail, runs over someone
shoots their family. No medical side affects like other pharmicitual drugs its a natural remedy and
can be used in many ways. I am for it. |

No one has ever died or overdosed from weed, so why not. Your idea isn't half bad....we need to some
revenue in this country! |

I've never smoked it and probably never will, and I do fear reckless use will get some people hurt,
but hey we've tried a half century of banning it and had little effect other than incarcerating some
people who were rather harmless. We should give legalizing a try. If it results in a lot of
problems for society then we can always ban it again. But what we've done so far hasn't worked. |

I'm undecided on whether to legalise this, but the reason given is easily refuted. If Marijuana is
to be successfully legalised, the legal versions of it must be more attractive to users than illegal
sources. The primary way people decide is price, thus we can't tax it very heavily if at all, or we
will be more expensive than the dealers! |

I cannot and would not support the legalisation of the drug. Some people say that it is harmless
however I think it would have a negative effect on the general population. In making it legal
despite the fact that there would be legal limits you are increasing the accessibility of the drug.
This could have a severe impact on people in day to day life. Research has shown that even after
smoking and the obvious effects of the drug wear off people for days and weeks after can suffer from
lowered levels of concentration and memory. For someone smoking it constantly they will be in this
state for a prolonged amount of time. You also have the long term implications of smoking the drug
which can include schizophrenia and suicidial tendancies. When a person smokes the drug they are
also four times more likely to suffer a heart attack than other people because of the drugs effects
on the body. Unlike with regular cigarettes the lungs become even more damaged because people
smoking it inhale for longer and the drug contains more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than tobacco. For
these few reasons I could not support the drug becoming legal, you can call me a spoil sport if you
wish but I think the impact on human health is too great. |

Weed is a bad drug. I don't believe it should be legalized. If it is, then set legal limits the same
way they do with alcohol. |
