I think it is sad when ethnicities are downtrodden by a culture, such as the Native Indigenous
peoples of The Americas.

Whoop-ti-do! It would be nice to never see the term "native American" again. It is after all 2008
and anyone who hasn't assimilated is an idiot. HVAC capabilities alone should be enough sway anyone
to come in out of the teepee.
Oh wait! They have! Out of the teepee into the casino. And why not? Casino's are an honored
tradition amongst the indigenous people of America, right?
Look, if someone wants to trace their roots, whatever. I just get fed up with people who take some
sort of pride in their "ethnicity" or ancestry. Especially in America. Unless you're black, most
of your ancestors came to America to be AMERICAN. They came to the new world to leave the old world
far behind. You want to honor them? Take pride in being American, and stop looking for what sets
you apart.
Sorry, but the same applies to black people in America as well. Post Civil War offered an
opportunity for all blacks to return to Africa. They didn't. And for black people living today,
thank God they stayed! Not too many places in Africa right now anyone would want to live in.
There. I've ranted. I have family who still take pride in our Irish ancestry. Yuck. No one
cares. It just seems like a monsterous waste of energy to me, and in the end promotes idiotic
attitudes about what it is to be an American as well as an overwhelming false pride in a foreign
country that wouldn't see you as anything other than an American anyway.
This rant is in general. It was not specifically aimed at you badpony. The topic just hits a nerve
with me. |
