It's a much more common language. In fact, it's the most common language in the world. I think the
best idea would be to teach both. |

I'm teaching my kids both because both are important. What is silly in my opinion is that some
school districts do not even have a foreign language program. Even worse is that most of the
schools around here wait until the high school years to begin a foreign language program. The child
will learn with ease if you start him/her at a younger age. Also, learning Latin and Greek origins
at an early age will help all the way through the school years, not just with foreign language
skills but also English Grammar and Vocabulary. |

Since parts of the USA are so rooted in Spanish culture, it's only right that the population have a
basic grasp of the language.
Plus, I like Spanish :P |

Everybody should learn a second language. I don't like the idea of being forced to learn Chinese or
Russian. Let me be free to choose !
To do business in China or anywhere else, all you need is a reliable translator, on your payroll. |

Yes mandarin is a much wider language, but it should not be Mandarin taught it should be Cantonese
the language of Hong Kong which is the business language because most of the Chinese business that
goes on in the world happens in Hong Kong and any business men from main land china will know
Cantonese anyway. |

Spanish is used in America for the many Mexicans who are here (as Mexico is a wee bit closer than
China) |

The business argument is so tired and old. First it was French. Then people started to push
Russian. Then when major investments from Japanese so they pushed Japanese. Now the argument is
for Chinese languages. But hey guess what numbers increase everyday....Spanish speakers. Get
over it and stop fighting it. Americans should have been bilingual by know speaking fluent
Spanish and questioning if they should be learning a third. People don't want to learn anything
from people below the equator. Its such a joke. |
