Making Fun Of Jesus Is Mean
Why do people do it? What did he do wrong? Maybe it would be better stated to say it's wrong to use him and his life as the subject/object of sick humor.

Why go after the body when you can attack the head? Remove the head, then you kill the body. That is how many see it. Many attack Christianity by attacking the heart of it. Plus, those who do that believe He is a myth anyway, so they don't really care.

Mockery, making fun of anything you do not understand is fearfulness, is insecurity, is response to rejection by peers.

Truthfulness, accuracy? Never.

I think that if you make fun of you better be ready to get the favor turned back to you. If you cant take the roast, don't give it to others.
Jesus never roasted anyone. In fact he hung out with the lows of the society in that day.

I agree. Even if you are from a different religion, you should respect other religious figures.

I'm sure God knows we're only making people laugh, which is surely a good thing. We're still all going to heaven, what with such a forgiving and loving God?

Yawn...

It's is sick to mock people who were tortured to death.

But if I don't believe he exists, then I'm mocking a mythical figure. Is that still wrong?

Making fun of Jesus is mean. If he wasn't the son of God, he was a hard bastard who evoked a religion that has lasted for 2000 years, and in a square go, I think Jesus would win every time. If only his followers were as tough. What a wonderful world it would be....

guess what the Egyptians had a religion that lasted longer than 2000 years. but they did not force people to join through torture and an inquisition as well as holy wars etc.

Do Christians really believe Jesus created this entire earth? Funny, I thought the Christian God was supposedly responsible for that?

If he existed, he died almost 2000 years ago. The statute of limitations is up. Humor is OK.

The title of this debate, given some time and a little vitriol, easily becomes "Kill the Danish newspaper editor for running those cartoons about Mohammed".

I am NOT using a slippery slope here. They are two extremes of the same basic feeling.

 Good points.
"he died almost 2000 years ago. The statute of limitations is up." Hilarious by the way.

If people are allowed to make fun of non believers i don't see why we can not pick holes in what they believe.

Here's a great one
'Jesus said to moses come fourth,
but moses came fifth and won a
coconut'

if Christians can stand on the street shouting abuse at anyone who is not a christian, or come to our houses and harass our children, don't tell me i cant take the p*ss out of Jesus to make them go away.

If Christians make fun of Atheists, I would like examples. Here are a very small number off insults I have gathered towards Christians.
"Atheists have the job of laughing at you"
"Maybe intolerant religious-to-the-max people like you just can't appreciate comedy."
"I have asked this to a few of them without getting an answer. I guess they are still adding up the ages of people in the Bible."
"requiring mindless faith"
"because they are hypocrites who do not really practice what they claim to believe".
"The only reason people believe in any religion is because they are weak-minded and are lost without a simple explanation to explain everything."
Excuse me if this is any way abusive, but I doubt it especially with the prior ahead.

Hey he started it. I never tried to force any pamphlets on Jesus. I never called up Jesus asking for money. Finally I never told Jesus the only way he could get into heaven was by kissing my butt in just the right way, on just the right days, and in just the right kind of church. He’s like a really persistent insurance salesman or something.

Jesus was laid back, cool, he hung out with all types of people, when he comes back, he'll probably sit back and have a few laughs, you know get familiar. He won't be uptight and all
serious. He is love.

Fictional characters are not deserving of reverence.

If your religion can't withstand criticism or mockery, it's not worth believing in.
