Love: Nothing More Than A Chemical Reaction
Love is nothing more than your body's reaction to a chemical imbalance in the brain. There are many different chemicals that can cause us to feel "love" but that is all it is, chemicals. I am not heartbroken--yet-- I am merely focusing on the inevitable truth: We are fickle, chemicals level out, it will end. Does anyone else agree with this cold reality, or am I on my own? If you disagree, please tell me why. I am in need of a pick up.

Well, "chemicals" is technically correct, it is completely ineffective because everything is a chemical really. But I digress, yes, all of our emotions can be broken down into face value which is nothing more than hormonal messages going from stimuli-induced messages in the brain.

Whatever that chemical reaction is, sometimes when you're with someone you like in that certain way or hear from them, it makes you happy in a way that makes you like them even more. I'm not speaking for everyone, just speaking from my own experience.

If you have more than just a lustful attraction with another person you won't lose your "chemical imbalance". If the feeling passes it is just lust. Don't mix up lust and love. Very common mistake.

All of our emotions are based on chemical reactions. The body and the brain are inextricably intertwined.

The fact that the brain's functions are an electrochemical mechanism doesn’t change the fact that we have the ability to exert significant control over those functions. What you are talking about is infatuation and yes infatuation always fades, however a real emotional context can develop between two people. You’re young, have fun, don’t take anything too seriously, and get to know yourself. The overwhelming odds are you will find somebody you can make a future with. That’s what people do and have done all through history. Your job now is to become a person someone else can make a future with.

Although I completely agree with you that chemical reactions explain most of what happens in a body, and that would include love, the romantic in me still holds onto a glimmer of belief there can be more to love. Yeah, I know, you can pick on me for it, but the chemicals right now are telling me it must be something more than just the chemicals.... Those tricky chemicals!

Sounds like rubbish. You are denying the existence of spirit. Very bad. How could chemicals create emotions like love and hatred? Explain.

"How could chemicals create emotions like love and hatred" Are you serious? Do you know anything of the human brain?
