We have seen those who have great subjectivity and their credibility errodes as participation
continues. However no one is completely objective, but there are those who try. I would say that
Hizashi is the most objective of people on this site, and as a result he has great credibility with
me. And of course the converse is true with others that participate. It is also a subject by
subject sort of thing. If someone said something malicious about my partner, i will immediately go
defensive and not believe it. However, if someone said something really nice, but exaggerated i
would support that statement. |

You are defining being subjective or objective. |

No.
You always have the right to remain silent.
Because? No good deed ever goes unpunished. |

Not necessarily, because you are saying that objectivity is unavailable to the person who has strong
feelings, and this is not always true. It certainly seems difficult to be objective in these
circumstances, however.
Let's go through an example: I have large disrespect for my neighbor who is an abortionist. I
don't like his character and actually do hate him at a certain level. The reason for my "hatred" is
the result of looking at and studying what abortion is. So, I have made a decision about my views
regarding abortion and those who perform it. Now, my feelings are based on my thinking about
abortion and a response to my decision.
However, I would hope to have some degree of rational objectivity. That would be where I come
across new information that leads me to change my views on abortion. I would then say I was wrong
to think that abortion was wrong, immoral and a crime. My feelings would probably change toward the
abortionist. There are many instances where myself and others change their minds about an issue or
issues and hence the emotions change as well. I presume you have changed your mind about something
in spite of strong feelings at one time about the issue.
Sometimes people have strong emotions without much thought behind it. There may be less
psychological rationality to work with here, if they are not willing to review their thinking (or
lack thereof) on the matter. |
