| Losing A Pet That You Have Become Very Fond Of, And Attached To, Can Be More Devastating Than Losing A Friend Or A Relative. |
| Sometimes when you lose an adorable pet, be it: A cat, dog, horse, bald eagle, or even a golden pet scorpion, the impact is so distressing to you emotionally, that it can be absolutely unbearable. Much worse than losing a human acquaintance. |

Definitely. I lost a dog a few months ago (3 months, 2 weeks, 4 days. I'm not kidding) and I'm still
sad. She was the one thing I could always count on, and she died while I wasn't there to help her or
take her to the vet. I cried and didn't leave the house for three days after we buried her. So yes,
losing a beloved pet can hurt more than losing a friend or relative. Hope you like heaven, Roxy. |

The animal/human bond can be incredibly strong. I have lost pets that made me feel badly for a few
days, but I was not devastated. I can say that, if something were to happen to my Shih Tzu, I would
mourn her passing much more than that of some people I know. I do place a higher value on human
life, but there are people in my life that I am not nearly as attached to as I am to this dog. I
usually do not even refer to her as a dog. That part is delusional on my part. She is like another
baby to me. She is always by my side. To lose her, would be a devastating loss to me. I have
owned many pets. I have become attached to all of them. Some, though, have become so close to me
that I feel like they are more than a pet. I just left a debate about it "being time" for a person
to put her dog down and I am more emotional as I write this response than usual. As I type, Roxie
(the Shih Tzu) is asleep next to me. Her favorite place to be. She has become a best friend and a
confidant. I have had some hard times lately and this little furball knows. It never ceases to
amaze me, but if I am sad, she comes right to me and always offers her love and support in a way
that only a dog can. I can call a friend, but I do not need to pick up a phone if I do not feel
inclined. She already knows and is right there to do some goofy thing or to snuggle up and look at
me with eyes full of compassion. I am sure that people can become this attached to any pet. If
this is scattered, forgive me. I am generally more "with it". I did not sleep well last night and
I am still half asleep, but seeing this debate, I felt that I wanted to post something and agree
that our pets are a blessing and it is sad that more people do not take the time to get to know them
as such. |

Of course. It's amazing what people become emotional attached to. When my laptop breaks down I will
probably cry. |

We can create high emotional bonds with various kinds of animals. It could happen and does happen,
but I bet if you died the pet wouldn't feel that bad, due to the lack of Intellectual capacity (IQ &
EQ) |
