It may not lead to a result that extreme, but it does have an impact on you. |

Yes, after playing sonic hedgehog, i go for walk in the street and always automatically jump around
looking for rings to collect and threaten people in the street by jumping on their heads as though
they are Dr robotnik. |

If that was true, there would be many more serial killers in the world. And "violent" is a very
broad word...like what is "violent" music in your opinion? Or to what degree is "violence" in a
video game considered bad? |

I kill people because I'm crazy, not because of my choice of music. |

I play loads of violent games and listen to 'Disturbed' and that's pretty violent. I have killed
anyone and have no wish to do so. |

No. Violent music, games, and movies only spark what already exists in the person. They are not
the cause of the person becoming violent. They are only a means to add fuel to the already existing
fire. |

I would like to say I agree with this theory, but the truth is a person is not a blank slate just
waiting to be written upon: We do what is our CHOICE to do. Not what is suggested.
Choice, is your divine volition, which you exercise.
I like the X-files and Bourne trilogy not because they have killing but because they are
intellectually-stimulating entertainment. |

Wow...This man must be very unaware...Just as the saying goes...Or rather went- Guns don't kill
people, people kill people"- EVERYBODY even if you realize it or not, needs an escape or a scapegoat
these days, sadly...Listening to "violent" music or viewing gory movies etc doesn't mean you will be
a serial killer...I am 25 have a very stable life/family/relationship - yada yada yada and I am a
big fan of Death/Black metal and LOVE scary movies with lots of gore- this doesn't mean deep down
inside that I will become or for that matter am a psychopathic serial killer waiting to emerge-
Liking certain types of music or movies or even wearing black all the time doesn't justify who you
are as a person- people seem to be way to judgmental these days, like I said earlier, EVERYBODY is
looking for a scapegoat these days to blame sadistic behavior on preferences instead of actual
mental illnesses...
Now don't get me wrong, yes, there have been a lot of cases where college students or even high
school/elementary kids have gone sour and done devastating things and end results have murder and
death over looking t.v. And other sorts of media right on top of it and they all pin point these
exact similarities but c'mmon "gore" music and "violent "movies aren't the real root of the
problem.... |

No of course it doesn't.
To be a serial killer you have to kill at least, i would say, 3 people. There's a greater likelihood
it'll just make you a regular murderer.

There's nothing more soothing, more cathartic, than coming home after a day of dealing with morons
and playing a First Person Shooter. Taking out frustrations on animated pictures is better than
taking them out on someone else.
Reputable and unbiased studies show that porn actually reduces rape, and studies on goth
music and culture show that it actually reduces the rate of suicide in such people. Similar
studies on video games show the same thing.
Edit:
If violent video games are such a danger, then why is the US military distributing "America's Army"?
Is it to glorify war by desensitizing murder and thus gain more recruits, or encourage and create
serial killers? Of course, if video games don't cause people to commit violence, then
neither is the case.

Politicians, religious types and other busybodies are too willing to point fingers instead of
addressing the issues. There are studies which show a stronger link between sports and violence,
but nobody seeks to ban those. |

It is true that these things can contribute towards people being violent, but it certainly isn't the
case with everyone. I know people who have watched plenty of violent films and played plenty of
violent games and I certainly wouldn't describe them as serial killers! |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|

That is just ridiculous. No one is going to become a serial killer just because they do all that
stuff. I listen to that kind of music and watch all kinds of violent movies and I know I am not
going to be the next Lizzie Borden or something so that is just a narrow opinion of a narrow-minded
person. Thank you very much!!!!! |

That's simply not true, what you watch or listen to has no bearing on how you act. If you are
predisposed to becoming a serial killer, you're going to do it no matter what you watch or listen
to, the media just won't say "Joe Blow went on a killing spree because he watched Barney and
listened to nursery rhymes!" |

I'm against this because i do all these things, i listen to eminem, play man hunt, and watch violent
movies. And i don't even like to kill a fly |
