Most people would say that yes. I live in a well off family and the way they describe prisons on the
news sound better then the house i live in. |

I agree, life in prison is more suffering. But, the downfall to this is that we are paying for them
to stay alive. It costs so much money for just one prisoner. The death penalty isn't as "teaching",
but it is more effective in the community. We lose out on enough money through taxes and gas prices,
we don't need to support people that have murdered, raped, robbed or stolen. |

Yes it is! That's what I made my debate too! |

Y should they be killed with a shot and not let them think about what they've done the whole rest
of their life in prison???? |

I agree for the simple fact that I am against the death penalty. I would prefer to see someone
suffer in prison than put out of their misery by the death penalty. When one is left to live in
prison, they should also not be allowed to watch TV, play video games or take classes like many
prisoners are allowed to do. They should be left in room alone, with books to read and nothing more.
They should eat, sleep, bathe, and everything in the same room. They should have to suffer while
they are in prison and not be allowed to have any life luxuries. I am against the death penalty, so
I would be for life in prison before I would agree with the death penalty. |

Yes I agree, I would rather die then spend life in prison. Unfortunately when this happens it hurts
us b/c of taxes, we end up paying for it. |

I don't know anyone that has done both. Do you? |

They aren't kept in a cell 24 hrs a day. They are let out, they go to the gym, study, learn new
trades, watch TV, play games, playstations, hold concerts/plays go out in the exercise area, have
pictures on the wall, bedding ont the beds need i go on. Cells should be cells, a bare small room
with a bucket and nothing else AT ALL!. |

The upkeep for prisoners is soaring, just as the number of prisoners is getting bigger. Prisoners
who commit terrible crimes should be sent to the gallows(figure of speech, not a punishment)and not
be allowed to waste money and space in prison. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Dozens of innocent people have been removed from "death row" for crimes they did not commit but were
convicted. And when the number of already murdered are added it (lynchings, (executions", etc.)
that number goes into the hundreds.
Go look up the name Cameron Todd Willingham. Then try to justify murdering convicted people,
especially when one was murdered despite the lawyers, judge and state governor knowing he was
innocent.
People who are in favour of murdering the convicted are sociopaths no better than those they
condemn. And are usually worse, like the filthy mobs that used to watch public "executions" 200
years ago.

You're not agreeing with me. You're agreeing with the facts, something which I always do, and you

No way having to rot in jail must be terrible... It cant be better than just being over and done
with!!! |

It is expensive to keep someone in prison, especially for extended periods of time. Furthermore,
while in prison, they might have a chance for parole, which could be a threat to the community. |

|

|

Yeah, I dont see how you could be against it. Laws change all the time and prisoners get a get out
of jail free card when they do. Then they are free to roam and commit more crimes, and most of them
do.
And dont even try to say it's cruel and unusual punishment, because who really knows if it hurts?

I would have to say that life in prison for someone that killed an innocent person is a waste of
money and they should get what’s due to them, this would save money and resources that would be
otherwise wasted |

Prison isn't for suffering or vengeance, it provides three aspects:
1) It protects society.
2) It punishes the guilty.
3) It rehabilitates the guilty for an eventual return to society.
If it doesn't do all three, then the individual doesn't belong on prison. Those who have committed
crimes so heinous that society determines they are never to be released are just taking up space and
wasting resources and should be put to death. |
