| Leviticus 18:22 Is Nearly Always Misunderstood |
| "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: It is abomination." But what does the key word "abomination" really mean? Something that is an abomination causes disgust or hatred. Clearly, it does. The prophecy is fulfilled. The Bible isn't telling you how to make people act here, it's telling you that SOMEONE is going to be disgusted or hating of homosexual relations. And who are the people hating to fulfil this prophecy? You guys, the ones so eager to click that big, red "Against" button! |

It strikes me that the passage it fairly straight forward. The individual who wrote it is saying
that homosexuality is an abomination. I don't see anywhere where he goes on to suggest that this
is not how he sees it but how others might view it. A friendly warning if you will.
I think that religion is used as a tool for governing people. With that in mind if you were
governing a tribe/nation/group of people and one of your aims is to expand in population (which has
numerous benefits) then you would prefer if people were reproducing. It is in the rulers interests
to convince society that those who are homosexual are committing an abononation thus increasing the
likelihood that they will go against their natural inclinations and produce offspring. Exactly the
same applies to not using contraception. |

I'm not hating. I have many homosexual friends, but I'm straight. If there wasn't this "prophecy",
then there wouldn't be hatred for homos. But to the small Christian brain, it would seem that
prophecy has been fulfilled. |

I have seen myself and others try to justify the worst things. This is an instance of that. It says
in other words "Don't do this because it's an abomination." Some will say that both interpretations
are valid. If you look at it, it's clear. It says homosexuality is wrong. Also, there are other
verses that conflict with your interpretation and are in line with "mine." |

Sure, I’m fulfilling this “prophecy” if that‘s what you want to call it. More to the point,
who’s to decide which interpretation takes precedent over another? This sounds like complete
arrogance to me. Claiming one’s opinion or perspective overturns another’s in this type of
situation is pointless. The only person who could give an accurate interpretation of Leviticus 18:22
for all to follow would be the person who wrote that very passage, since they would know exactly
what they intended it to mean. Anyone else stating such is just asserting "Hey, my opinion's better
than yours, so go with what I say". Also, I have no problem with homosexuality. I’m not
homosexual, but then again I’m not trying to dictate how others should express their sexual
desires towards people they care about. |
