Lack Of Sleep Is Caused By Stress And Worry.
Stress leads to lack of sleep when you are concerned about uncertainties in your life.

I agree. I usually find to it hard to sleep when I am uncertain about something. There are nights when my brain is too active so I have a lot of trouble sleeping. Lack of sleep can also be caused by excitement, like Mackenzie said, and it can also occur if you still have lots of energy left over from an event you have attended earlier in the evening.

I agree, and also with what mackenzie states. I use to lose a lot of sleep when I was excited. And, when there was a problem that I couldn't quite work out. I resolved the problem one, when I read about great minds, like Issac Newton, who use to cure any problems he had, by thinking about them just before he dropped off to sleep, and would then wake up with the answer in the morning. Once you get into this habit, it's amazing how quickly you can get off to sleep. And, the answer to your problem is usually there, too, in the morning. I'm not stating that I have a great mind, however, I am stating that around 90% of the human mind is not used, 99% in some cases, maybe this 90% kicks in when you are asleep?

Lack of sleep or insomnia is, in fact, often caused by concerns and uncertainties that we have, but sometimes it occurs when we are really excited about something, or are looking forward to a positive development, which keeps our thoughts going all night long. I have experienced both scenarios in the past. While I was preparing for my PhD oral exams a few years ago, I would wake up in the middle of night and would experience what felt like panic attacks, as I weighed the wisdom of sleeping, when I had so many books to read through and so many notes to memorize ahead of the two hour long examination.

I have also experienced great bouts of energy when I expect that something positive is about to occur, and this has also led to a lack of sleep. Whenever I go on long-haul, transatlantic trips to Europe for either conferences, research or pleasure, I find it exceedingly difficult to sleep the night before. This is usually not due to the fact that I am worried in any way, but simply because I am anxious and excited.

That is one of many many potential causes for lack of sleep. Others include
1) noise - if you live near a highway, for example, 2) biology - as in your body causing sleep apnea, 3) family - kids can interfere, or partners may toss and turn or snore thus disrupting you, 4) jobs - the timing or length of shifts, 5) dumb luck.

So yeah you list one of the causes - but just one.

For me, a lack of sleep is caused by a good book or a movie.
