Labeling An Individual As Closed Minded On The Grounds That S/he Is An Atheist Is A Ridicules And Generally Inaccurate Assumption.
One's mind must be open to defy the ever overwhelming clutch religion(s) have on our civilization. To speculate about a creator involves less of an open mind than to speculate upon how we came to be.

Only Canadians should be labeled as close minded.

"Canadians" sounds too broad a group for that label, but maybe if you specifically say "Montreal Canadiens and their fans" are closed minded then I suppose I might agree. Go Bruins.

Labeling anyone as "closed minded" is ridiculous...until they demonstrate to you that yes they actually are. Either an atheist or a religious person can be closed minded, or open minded.

Frankly the person who first makes the "closed minded" assertion usually turns out to be the one with the closed mind because that claim is meant to sweep all small details of the argument aside. Show you're not closed minded by discussing everything at every level.

It is dangerous to label anyone as close minded before you have a chance to discuss with them. I have found open minds among nearly all beliefs. I've found even more closed minds among all beliefs. I think maybe it's usually a sign of using denial and dogma (yes there is an Atheist dogma to) to shield ones doubt. Always be wary of someone who tells you their belief is not a religion. To believe whatever it is always involves a leap of faith.

The effect of your last two sentences depends on the definitions applied to "religion" and "faith".

Nowadays, an atheist means too many things. Heck, I've got atheists on another site saying an atheist is one who does not accept the belief in God.

I'm trying to tell them there are people who have not accepted the belief that God exists who do not want to be called atheists.

There is a difference between not believing, not accepting and insisting there can be no God.

Atheists who insist there can be no God are not only being closed minded, they are betraying their own system of logic. Their main argument is that a God cannot be proven and there is no way they can prove there isn't one. But they have no problem insisting something is true they cannot prove.

I believe they are doing this because the idiotic things that believers say to them have driven them over the brink of reason.

Anyone who insists to others something they cannot prove is being a goofball.

Christians are really idiotic. Any Christian has to know that the only person they can prove anything to is the person who wants it proven.

So what do they do, they try to fool people into thinking they want it proven (God doesn't move people to want to know God fast enough for these Christians).

People who insist that it's their way or the highway are closed minded. That would include many religious people and many atheists.

I think the only thing that could cause one to insist that there absolutely cannot be a God is religion. I think a god conceptualized by any given religion, to me, is nearly impossible to exist on the grounds of what it is or does (or what is known about it). But I think there could be a God, which would not constitute as one of the many Gods conceived by the religious or may not even be considered as a God by definition, to exist or have existed. The detail of religion to me seems to hold too much information, pertaining to an entity which is virtually unknown and undiscovered objectively, to be true. But that's just what I think. Of course you disagree.

You may not be closed-minded in other areas of your life, but atheism is a very closed-minded view. You as an atheist insist that there are no gods because you say there aren't and anyone who dares suggest that there even might be any deities at all is a delusional moron.

I might suggest that but not because you don't believe in atheism.
