True but it has the potential to be red, being related to beet root. Like broccoli it is purple in
fact there are many colourful vegies . Purple cabbage, lettuce, potatoes and brussel sprouts, runner
and broad beans, peas, carrots too.
Color doesn't matter. Kids prefer fresh spinach to the slimy cooked canned stuff. I chop or shred
it up fine and stir it into soups and pasta sauces and sneak it into pizza sauce and my daycare kids
love it.
Nah, kids actually love stuff that looks disgusting but tastes great. Shape gummy candy into worms
or cockroaches or even dogpoo and they'll think it's cool and gobble it down. Make a chocolate bar
look like a turd and it will be their favorite. BUT conversely, take spinach dye it blue and squish
it into a smurf shape and it will still taste like spinach and they'll still hate it.
I tricked the ex-boyfriend's very young children some years ago into eating raw spinach by calling
it "Kid's Lettuce".
I had them all eating it like rabbits and no complaints. But cooked? Spinach IS nasty. Even I cannot
stand it cooked.
Simply eat it raw in your salads in place of regular iceberg lettuce.
I do not think the color makes much difference to a food which is horrible-tasting cooked.
