Joe9's Departure Is A Sad Day For For And Against.
It was his on - line screen play. I practically begged him not to go. He must have thought I was lying.

It is truly a sad day for us all, I'm lighting a candle even as we speak. Come back Joe69, please, come back! We beg you.

Why do I have the feeling that this is a very sarcastic response? I also have the feeling that Joe is right here with us, so a candle will more than likely not be necessary, but go ahead if it makes you feel better. I would even go so far as to say that I am writing a comment to Joe right now. I like the Joes_Cult name much better than the last one. Lambie was just very child like. I kept thinking of Sherri Lewis. When I wasn't thinking of her, I was thinking of a lamb chop or a rack of lamb. Why joe69? I am interested to see what name you/he will use next. Please just let the drama settle down and debate or make the personal comments pleasant so there is not a need to keep coming up with screen names. I have never liked doing that. I don't even know what inspired me for the one I have on here. Everytime I sign up for a new e-mail account or some other website, I have the hardest time coming up with a good name to use. Half of the time, I end up forgetting the name. I think simplicity is good.

Gilligans Isle has seven distinct characters. They represent all seven basic characters in society. Joe9 was one of those and played it well. As i said earlier in answer to a question.
His departure only creates a vacuum to which draws another who will fill that particular vacant spot.

Everyone's input should be welcome regardless of whether we agree with them or find them annoying. Besides, I'm still not convinced Joe9 is really gone.

Hear Hear! Grenache some will say good riddance, I think I have made my position clear.
I have said the name calling and other antics were not in the spirit of the forum yet it was all very predictable. And something joe9 was a fully payed up member of.
It will be interesting to see what people think.

If you look back over the events in the past few days it would be a bit like bringing Booby Ewing back!

He is replaceable; there will always be a diverse array of gawks out there who will be able to stir up a real contentious wrangle.

But for the fact, he is not gone.

He had already set up alternate to alternate identities before he even started this latest leaving speech. You know for someone who claims to be such a thespian he really fails to differentiate between characters. The thing is if you poke any of these diverse pig-in-a-pokes they always squeal the same way.

Since you are not Joe, and as your own separate entity, Keeps, I just do not see why you feel so sorry for him as he IS the one who did all this to himself; this much is very readily apparent to anyone rational and reasonable in here. Joe likes to stir the pot, and he has done. What is so noble about a trouble-making prank? I just do not see it, so we do disagree on this much, hope my differing opinion to yours does not offend you. You for one and Grenache, and St. Balders, and Genkaku are the stable, normal ones who have shown by consistency to simply debate and not take things personally nor make things personal but keep it professional. And thank you for that.
I for one appreciate it.
And the fact that you still show human compassion for Joe, says something nice for your character, though not his. Everyone stands or falls on their own merit or lack thereof. No one can ruin anyone's reputation without their assistance in the matter.
But I did show the decency of saying goodbye to him in his shoutbox, if that is any matter of kindness, Keepmindok, for the record.

Only because it adds texture to what would be frankly a bit on the boring side. I had a glance at some of the more intellectual safe debates, and you know they always won the debate. I don't mind loosing, finding out about characters is far more interesting and to the point for me.
Joe9 had character. The way some people are responding here, you would think I was talking about Mike Tyson, not a controversial debater on a blog alternative site.
I have the up most admiration for the quality of some debaters on this site and joe9 would be the first to say you are the best, I do agree.

The Plumber was a cancer on the site. Every day the illness was metastasising further. If he's gone, the patient has a chance at recovery. But someone that deeply delusional has to find an outlet for his own inadequacies. Maybe he'll find another. Maybe he'll return here. If he does, I predict it will be an easy spot. He just doesn't have the talent to run his menage convincingly.

It's not clear whether Joe's departure was voluntary or involuntary. His account pages seem to be zeroed, which suggests action by the site administrators. I don't think ordinary users can delete their accounts in that way. It could be that Plumber was notified that his accounts were going to be deleted and tried to put a positive spin on it by making it seem voluntary. Or it could be that the site administrators zeroed his accounts after he had already left voluntarily.

But assuming that his departure really is the result of administrative action, it's not enough for the site administrators to deal with Plumber alone. They have to deal with the causes of Plumber. The possibility of a new Plumber emerging has to be eradicated. That means, at minimum, an IP check has to be introduced into the site software. Alternatively, each user's IP address could be published along with their posts, but that might be seen as a privacy violation.

I agree with an IP check. I don't know that I agree with posting an IP address for each user. I think an IP address can be traced by people who know enough about computers. Hackers, for example. I worry about the kids on the site especially, if that were to happen. That being said, I would hope that a site such as this would have software that checks IP addresses of the users. There is no way to ban a user without it. All that could be done, without IP address tracking software, is to ban individual accounts. That doesn't keep the banned individual from coming back as another user. In reality though, there is software that one can use that changes their IP address.

You always get one. He is like the idiot at the party that wants to be centre of attention. Spoiling the atmosphere for is own selfish gain. People think - do we hope he leaves because it would be good without him or should we just cut and run.

If only it were true he has gone it would be a good day. Good riddance to bad rubbish, but he hasn't gone anywhere. If whoever he is now can debate in an adult manner without resorting to schoolboy tactics then I am fine with that outcome. I won't hold my breath.

Not really and besides, he only says he left, doesn't mean anything. And if you've noticed, Joe9 may have left but that doesn't mean his other alias have. He can return if he wishes but I would hope he would reframe from the vast levels of immaturity he has shown while using this site, I never really knew him due to all the different usernames he used, he was very false. For and Against will carry on, we will be over him soon I imagine.

True he might be back as someone else but that will be the end of the character. It is just like the end of any soap character, it leaves a vacuum. Lets hope The author will think up someone who can handle him/herself as well then.
