I suppose that having hundreds of thousands of people spoiling their ballot by adding Jesus' name
and then place an "x" next to it would send a real message to political elites in the United States
and it would indicate a sense of dissatisfaction with all candidates and with the system in a more
general sense. Of course, this would be much harder to achieve in those jurisdictions that use
electronic voting during presidential elections. I hear that voting practices vary from one state to
another.
I would certainly consider spoiling my ballot if I lived in the US, by voting for Jesus. I am simply
not enamoured by either Barack Obama--who appears to be well on his way towards canonization, thanks
to the media--or John McCain, who is a nice enough guy and is clearly a moderate and centrist on
most issues, but remains largely unexciting. |

If Jesus was a candidate, I would certainly vote for him just for the sheer spectacle of it. It
would be fascinating to watch him handle the challenges of power : To see whether he would continue
with his pacifist creed, for example, or employ force to deal with problems.
Even if he made a complete mess of the business of governing, his disastrous reign would at least
provide plenty of ammunition to use against the cultists for generations to come. Or maybe it
wouldn't even be necessary : Maybe they would become spontaneously disenchanted with the cult when
they saw that the great messiah didn't really have much of a clue and kept making predictions which
didn't come true, for example. |

First, let me say I am only voting FOR based on the debate title. I disagree that we should all
write in "Jesus," because he's not exactly here to swear in, etc.
If Jesus is who Christianity claims he is, then he is a pretty amazing pick for president. He is the
Son of God, thus giving him some extra bonuses. For instance, he has a multitude of angels at his
command. That takes care of any issue that could be solved with manpower (e.g. Military (but I'll
get to that in a second), industry, luxury, etc). He also has some inside information having God as
his daddy; i.e. Whether Jesus knows everything or not, he has a resource that can clue him in on
everything.
Now, I've been itching to address a post on the AGAINST side. Jesus was not the cause of any wars
and slavery. His followers were. BIG difference. If Jesus had his way, there would be no war and
certainly no slavery. The perversion of the doctrine of Jesus is what leads to war,
destruction, evil, etc. Not even the New Testament encourages either war or slavery (we can debate
the latter, if you want). The doctrine that Jesus taught was quite different from the perversion. If
Jesus were president, there would be no senseless war: No crusades, no jihads, no war in Iraq. The
only war we could even potentially wage would be as self-defense or against injustice (e.g. Jesus
would have entered WWII quite early).
Yes, if Jesus were around right now, I would totally vote for him and encourage all others to do the
same. |

You Really Wanna Wake A Guy Up Who's Been Dead For 2008 Years?
What're You Going To Say?
Sorry Jesus Our Lives Are Going Down The Drain Bail Us Out?Again?
I Imagine His Answer Would Be Something Along The Lines Of.
"You Broke Your World Once And I Got You A New One. And Back Then I Said It Was The Last Time"
Besides
Christians Have Broken The 10 Commandments Many A Time. Why Should He Help This World? |

1) Pure fantasy, 2) How would he respond to a military attack on the U.S.? Turn the other cheek?
3) What would he do with criminals? Pardon them, heal the millions of them, or simply put them to
death since after all he's part of end judgement anyway? 4) Zero separation of church and state. 5)
Christian churches are HIS churches after all and he could declare only one is correct. So how will
you feel when he mandates, for example, the Methodists and Baptists have to disband and all he'll
support is the Catholics, for example? 6) What if he has an affair with a modern Mary Magdalene (a
prostitute). Are you going to impeach him like Bill Clinton? 7) Wouldn't he cease supporting
Israel and the Jews, thus making the Middle East powder keg all the more dangerous? 8) You only
said elect him President, not make him King of the World, so you can't claim all wars would stop and
all nations would get along because that's not within the scope of powers of the US President. 9)
As a symbolic gesture he'll probably wash the bare feet of foreign rulers when they come for
meetings. Do you want your President washing Russian feet? And 10) Many historians believe he may
have been dark skinned. I'm fine with that but I wonder how many Jesus for President supporters are
really ready for a black man in sandals to start calling all the shots. Hmm? |

When I brought Jesus into this debate, it was not to blaspheme His name in anyway, ONLY to
personally acknowledge His power in my own life BUT look at history. Up until 1962, this was the
greatest nation on earth. Everything wrong or evil was on a steady decline in spite of growing
population. Then somehow, certain people managed to get prayer taken out of our schools. Since that
time, ALL wrong & evil has been on a steady incline, murder, rape, thievery, you name it. We were
given a book of instruction for our life but its up to each of us personally to make the choice to
follow it or not. Its the Bible, PTL!We have gone from greatest lender, to greatest debtor nation in
the world, any guess why ? Our weak, worldly flesh can't seem to comprehend. JOSEPH |

1st of all, sorry, but it's never going to happen
2nd of all, even if it did happen, our nation would be upset with the outcome. Jesus would probably
suggest many things that Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims and other non-Christian religions wouldn't
appreciate. I guess there wouldn't be any wars which would be good for all the people against wars,
but what about the people who want to finish Iraq? I personally, do not, but I still think that it
would cause chaos. |

Exactly why would you want your imaginary friend to be President? Granted, he couldn't do worse
than Bush, but I'm having a hard time imagining anyone who could be worse than Bush. |

He was the cause for most of the wars and slavery in world history. Everyone fighting and killing in
his honor. No thanks. Chances are he would get assassinated. |
