Jason Newsted Was The Reason For Metallica's "downfall"
My little brother believes that Newsted, Metallica's previous bassist to Rob Trujillo, was the reason for their putting out albums such as Saint Anger, Load, and Reload. Now with Trujillo, they released Death Magnetic which is arguably their best album in a while. Coincidence?
He indeed was. The only reason AJFA was decent was because Cliff helped write some of it before he
died. Jason is a horrible song writer, and WAS the reason of Metallica's "downfall".
No. The band is RUN by Hetfield. He makes the decisions. He's the one who wanted less guitar solos
because he thought the time was past. Big mistake. Metallica is not going to win over a new audience
but their old audience is larger than the audiences shared by bands of today.
He came to his senses on this last work and and Metallica sounds more like Metallica.
Load and Reload don't count. They aren't in the same mode as Anger.
No, Metallica with Newsted saw the production of two of their best albums, ...And Justice For
All and The Black Album. Besides, Newsted had left before St. Anger.
I personally disagree with my little brother. I think that Newsted had nothing to do with it. I do
believe that it was just a coincidence that Newsted was in the wrong band at the wrong time, so to
speak.
