Since Dean became the Chair of the DNC there are far more Democrats in congress. And Democrats have
won in districts where democrats are not "supposed to win". |

Dean has good qualities and would have been a better presidential candidate or president than Kerry,
if only the democratic voters didn't chicken out when the media swift-boated Dean when he cheered at
a speech he gave.
On the whole I think he has done a good job. However, he is struggling to find a satisfactory
solution to the looming Hillary-Obama crisis. It's not clear whether that is really his own fault or
whether it derives from the unreasonableness of Hillary and her attack machine. More likely the
latter. The Clintons are exploiting all their contacts within the Democratic party establishment to
try and unfairly overcome the lead Obama has established.
In any case, it's not really practical to replace Dean at this stage of the election cycle. His
replacement would be in a strong position to influence the outcome of the Democratic nomination
process. Therefore whether the replacement was a Hillary supporter or an Obama supporter would be
crucial and would generate a lot of unhealthy intra-party tension. |
