It's Only A "gift" If There Are No Strings Attached.
If I give something to another - money, a present, an old personal possession - they are entitled to do whatever they want with it. Once it's theirs they're in control of it. But I know another family that is all about the strings attached. They'll give you something out of the blue but now you have to do something in return. A lifetime of this has upset their kids, who are now adults, because they're suspicious of anything they're ever given by anyone. What do you think?

The definition of a gift is it has no strings attached.
So I agree with this debate topic on that definitions basis.
