Yes we don't get any good jobs but we're not supposed to our parents pay for everything we need,
although i do want lots of extra cash for elegant lolita wear, and I'd love to find a great paying
job, but need and want are two different things |

At that age, kids should be focusing solely on school, not money, and that's the reason for the
prohibition. It's in your own interests. Work is the school of hard knocks, and it's better to
suffer that when you're older, both physically and mentally.
Aside from that, most places allow businesses to pay under-18s a lower wage than adults. Not
only are you endangering your education, you're getting less money than other workers.
If the argument is "work experience", wait until you finish high school, then go work as a
fast-food place or other bottom-end work. Nobody cares how well you did in your first job, and by
screwing up early, you learn the mistakes not to make and get real experience about what a real
full-time job is, something a part-time highschool job can never teach.
And when I say get such a job after high school, I don't mean a summer job. I mean, work for a
whole year and grow up a little. Some of the worst employees I've ever met in my jobs are those who
never worked a day in their lives before graduating college. They have no idea of what real work
responsibility is, and they have no drive or goals. |

Guess what Katie92 and Remii9512, you will be working for the rest of your lives, these days there
is no such thing as retiring when your 55, most have to work til they are well into their 70's just
to make it. So instead of being spoiled brats because you cant have everything that you WANT, try
appreciating what your parents are providing for you. Try looking up poverty on the web and I am
guessing you will be more appreciative. |

Most people under 16 are too immature to hold down a proper job and accept responsibilities. |

Kids can get a job once they are 15 in Australia, and yet many choose not to, why? Because all their
needs are met, and their wants do not outweigh their downtime.
If you are talking about younger kids (e.g 8-14)
then why on earth would they need a job?!?, the only possible reason they could need a job is to buy
the latest CD, DVD, shirt, etc, and these are merely things to keep us entertained, they do not help
it sustain us in any way, shape or form, theresore, they are wants, not needs. If you can show me a
10 year old kid, who is willing to work 3, 4, or 5 hours non-stop, for minimum wage, just to buy the
latest CD, then, and only then I will believe that kids that young should be allowed to get jobs. |

As long as a parent is providing shelter, food, clothing, items necessary for proper hygiene, what
needs are not being met? Or are you actually referring to a kids wants? Wants and needs are two
very different things... You were not very specific in what exactly you are referring to in terms of
needs. |
