It's Easier To Ask For Forgiveness Than Permission.
An old adage, true?

Only if you aren’t really repentant, if really are sorry then its much worse.

Very true. If I see a cake I could ask if I could have it but the answer could be no. Alternatively I could just eat it and then apologise later. That way I definitely get to eat the cake.

It is also much ruder and more selfish.

Yes it is much easier to ask for forgiveness. But since when is easy the right way to go? As David Hume promulgated in his "is-ought" fallacy, you cannot say for any reason that what is the case should be what ought to be the case.

After serious thought, I would think this to be true.

I believe that it is an instinct within a human that pushes the will to act first and suffer consequences later. Thus It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

I find it easier to ask permission first, and plus it's more polite. It would be way too hard for me to tell someone I'm sorry and if they could please forgive me, unless it is God. Asking for forgiveness usually is another way to say, "Sorry, I was wrong," which is something very hard for me to admit.

So if I need money I should rob a bank then say I'm sorry. I don't think it would work.

Never!! Asking forgiveness is much worse. I think asking for someone to forgive you is the worst, it means that you have to admit that you were wrong and that is not something I have talent in. Asking permission is easy, you either get a yes or a no. Forgiveness is much more complicated.

It depends on the situation. If it's "May I have a cookie?" it would be easy. If it was " Mom, may I use your money for bail?" that would be different.

It's not easier I mean when you ask your totally desrate and most likely going to do it again, but when you ask permission you most likely not to do it again.

Maybe for a time but you lose trust which makes things tougher in the long run. When you ask and obey you gain trust making things easier in the long run.
