| It's Cruel And Unfair For Animals To Be Treated The Way We Treat Them! |
| Animals are living, breathing creatures too, are they not? They can feel pain and misery, same as us - and I really can't believe our cockiness when animals were on this earth before we came along and did to them what any self-respecting human would feel downright ashamed at! Really, I have never felt more disgusted with humanity than when I see a poor, scared kitten cowering away from its owner - it's absolutely DISGRACEFUL!! |

First, I love animals, I don't want animals to suffer, and there have been many horrible things done
by people to animals. But with that said 1) The animals eaten for food are food and although I
don't agree with all the farming and slaughter techniques I think as long as they're handled safely
within an agreed upon parameter then we don't need to feel guilt for it. 2) The animals kept as
pets or work animals are for the most part loved and treated with respect and for the percentage of
people who abuse them there are indeed laws on behalf of protecting the animals. 3) Regarding zoos
- if an animal is born there or currently in there I think there is no more humane option than
continuing to keep them there, and/or if an animal is so endangered it may go extinct in the wild
then I think it's fair to try to maintain them in a zoo. But I don't agree with poaching wild
animals for the sake of stocking zoos (or pet shops either for that matter). 4) Regarding medical
research - As long as it's an approved protocol overseen by a review board and the topic involves
medical advancement then I think it's fair to do it. If it's for make-up or other vanity then I
think it's wrong. And finally 5) I believe animals deserve some degree of rights provided within
our laws, and punishments for the people who break the laws, but I definitely feel there are defined
parameters for eating, harnessing, or using certain animals as long as it's not malicious, wasteful,
or cruel. |

Actually, humans have been around much longer than felis catus, the common house cat, as well as
canis lupus familiaris, the domestic dog. You make out like animals were all living happily and then
humans came along and started treating them badly. I'm afraid most animals get a pretty tough deal
as it is anyway in nature, and it is only natural for the dominant species to do as it wishes with
other animals. |

You've made no specific argument TO debate here. What is your point? That SOME people mistreat
animals? Yes, and they should be punished. SOME people also mistreat PEOPLE!! Furthermore, you
COMPLETELY FAIL to define "mistreatment" other than your vague comment regarding the cowering
kitten, stating NOTHING about what this person might have done to cause it to cower from them. How
about posting a complete thought the next time you want to debate something? |
