It Would Be "Easier" For Everyone If Gays And Lesbians Stayed In The Closet.
It would be dishonest and it would result in abhorrent behavior and unhappiness, but it would be easier for everyone.

A small example would be Larry King's death, an event that would have probably never happened had he not been so loud about his homosexuality (that and him tormenting his shooter).

I would like to respond in red and green to see how these views fly.

View 2--Coming out of the closet is really dangerous to those coming out and to society, therefore, it is easier (and safer) to remain in the closet.

1. Societal acceptance of various sexual relationships and particularly the homosexual relationship, is kind of like putting a penny in the fuse box. It will create "sexual overload" in our culture. Sexual overload will broaden man's desire to have orgasmic fulfillment in all and any variety of relationships he can think of.
2. The same arguments for sexual fulfillment in the homosexual arena can be used for justification of just about any other type of sexual relationship.
3. The purpose of one man one woman in sexual relationship is to help control rampant sexual behavior , which ultimately will lead to destabilization of society. This social control cannot remain if "anything goes" becomes the norm. The outcome will be cataclysmic.

Therefore, it is easier and wiser to stay in the closet.

I guess I can't vote in both columns, so I placed the "red" view under St. Balder's vote in the comment section.

Of course it would. That way people wouldn’t have to waste so much of their time discriminating against homosexuals. They could spend that time discriminating against other races or religions instead.

I sense bit of homophobia from the agreeing side...maybe some more conservative people should seek EST. (Electro shock therapy) lol

No.

How a person has sex is bound to come out into the open somehow. There is really no such thing as a secret.
All things have a way of floating to the surface one way or another.

Authenticism indicates, best to say you orient one way or another right up front: Let others know what way your gate swings.
So no misunderstandings.

Be who you are.

How would it be easier? It certainly wouldn't be easier for the person. They would have to be struggling to conceal the fact that they are gay or a lesbian and that would be very depressing for them.

The fact that you say it would be easier worries me, because it shows how much people cannot accept people who are gay. There may not be as much discrimination if it was kept quiet, but I wouldn't like to think that we live in a world where people cannot simply be who they are.

I don't think they should stay in the closet but i don't think they should kiss in the street for the simple fact that try explaining to your kid why two people of the same sex are kissing they don't under stand

Oh, yeah.

Just like it would be "easier" if women stayed in the kitchen, blacks stayed "in their places", and "those people" (you know who I mean) stayed "over there" in "their own countries".

Why would you want to love someone who's actually gay and hiding is just lying to yourself

No. Why hide the evidence ? Being gay or lesbian is not a sin nor a sickness. Why try to conceal this simple fact ?

It would be "easier" for everyone except the gays and lesbians themselves!

It is easier in that it is a softer way. I hesitate to use the word cowardly. It would be pure misery, but it might be easier.

I respectfully disagree. No matter what my opinion is on the gay life style, everyone has a right to live as they please as long as they don't try to make converts out of other people.

I don't see why, how would that help anyone. I don't like to see two gay people all over each other but then I don't like seeing two straight people all over each other. Why do you say this Innomen, what's your thinking behind it?

A little bit of devils advocate stuff.

Easier doesn't mean right. Easier can mean going along with the crowd and not risking anything. Easier is often wrong. It would have been easier to be a nazi than to stand up to them. Being true to yourself takes courage and is hard.
