It Is Wrong To Think An Afterlife Is More Important Than This Life.
Is it?

I agree wholeheartedly, there are too many things that we human beans do to each other and think that well if we're just repentant (wink) about it then it makes up for being a sh*$head. Well, if the afterlife is filled with those folks who think they can do whatever the bloody heck they want and then apologize for it on their death beds I say give me the bumps and bruises of this world and call it a day when I shuffle off this mortal coil. At least I can go six feet under knowing I was as good a person as I could be rather than trying to score points for big sky daddy, just in case.

Even if you believe in an afterlife you have to figure there is a good reason for you to be here in the.. Uh antemortem. You only have so much time to figure out what ever it is you need to figure out in this life so better get to it. Spending all you time thinking about some situation you haven't gotten to is just boneheaded. I won't say wrong like morally wrong but I will say kind of stupid.

So exactly what do we need to figure out in this life? And there are those of us who would say we have figured out the afterlife question. Do you think I live my daily life wondering thinking about the afterlife? Again, I will match my productivity to anyone's. I consider myself to be one of the best in the world at what I do. I was up at 5:10, at work by 6:30 am, had 17 guys lined out for the day and figured out one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever seen in my line of work that was done by someone from another company (who obviously must have been thinking about the afterlife. I took care of about 10 problems that admin had, 10 problems that drafts people had and played air traffic controller all day while trying to keep up the moral for 15 guys working in 100 degree plus temperatures.

The references to the supposed results of those who believe in the afterlife are idiotic and quite frankly, wishful thinking. I guess we all share the wishful thinking thing. I hope it doesn’t cause the economy to collapse.

Very true. People are creating fantasies about afterlife and give thanks to Hollywood as well. But for the most part people should focus on their life now. I think it creates passive and unproductive people who think something is waiting for them after they die.

Then you're an idiot. Are you sure you think that. Or are there about a million combinations of things which make some people passive and unproductive. I sure wish some of the people who believe in an afterlife would be more passive.

I bet you do to. That way I wouldn't say you're an idiot. lol

We're not even sure if there really is an afterlife. If you really worry then do as much good as you can now, It'll be good for this life as well as the afterlife (if there is one) and try not to worry too much. The only thing we can do is do our best now. Worrying won't get you into heaven.

Probably true. We don't really know a) if there is an afterlife, b) what it's like there, or c) whether our actions in this life definitely impact the fate that would await us in an afterlife. And frankly much of the afterlife talk came from religious authorities who used it as leverage to get people to do what they wanted them to do, so are you really earning points toward an eternal reward or are you simply hearding into a line like cattle to a slaughter?

The afterlife is more important because it is everlasting, while this life is finite. Why should I concentrate my energies on this fleeting existence at the expense of my eternal destiny? This life is just a test to determine one's place in the afterlife. Those who live for the "here and now" are blind to the big picture. They live superficial lives, heedless of God.

Death is not the end. Don't be fooled by materialism. It's better to find out now than when you die, because it will be too late by then. God will not give you a second chance.

 Please define heedless of God?

That's one small picture you are painting yourself on one huge canvas IdeasMan. How can you possibly know you are carrying out God's will, and how can you possibly state God will not give you a second chance?

Depends. If thinking that an afterlife is more important detracts from how we live this life, it would obviously be wrong. If thinking that an afterlife has a positive or equal effect on how we live this life...then no, it wouldn't be wrong.

Those who think they live a better life than others because of what they think or don't think are idiots.

If a belief that helping people live this life detracts from how this life is lived it could be argued that it's wrong. If a belief that pizza tastes good detracts from how this life is lived it could be argued that it's wrong.
