It Is Worth It To Drill For More Oil In US, Because It Will Save Lives.
Much of the environmental legislation before Congress will result in much higher demand for more limited resources and therefore much higher prices for everything, especially food. This is just in the US and other developed countries. In underdeveloped countries, it means starvation, no water, and shorter life expectancy and no likelihood of developing. It is worth using all resources, prudently, if it means saving lives.

Good point, but US offshore drilling would yield mega amounts of oil.

Nope....the Alaska drilling argues at about 30 years at the most to provide 5% to Americans.
