Yes, it is selfish. I used to think that way, but after figuring it out, I realized how selfish I
was. Anything can happen to anyone. Let's just be grateful that we are living our day the best that
we can. Bad things and good things can happen, but that's what shapes us today. We just have to know
how to get past, "Why me? Why can't this be like this?" statement and progress further. |

Of course it's selfish. People who ask "Why me?" are self-pitying and arrogant. They need to
understand that the trials of life can fall upon anybody. |

Saying "why me" does not mean "why not someone else"; it instead suggests that whomever said it,
would rather have whatever misfortune he or she has stumbled upon happen to some else. |

It's more like saying "why not someone who deserved it?" if you feel that you truly didn't. |

Perhaps it's a matter of perspective. Perhaps the norm is utter destruction, misery and tragedy in
the course of natural events and we are merely escaping the norm through pure grace? So, the
question might be why me? In the sense of being spared for another moment, hour and day. |

Can't take on the weight of the world Dove, asking why not me is tantamount to wanting to be a
martyr. Besides how healthy is it to sit around wondering why we weren't caught up in a tsunami, or
in the twin towers on sept 11th. As to the why me thing, well let's get serious no one wants bad
things to happen, even if they are the small things it's just human nature to ask what did I do that
made this necessary. However, maybe you're right abut one thing perhaps the question we should be
asking ourselves in times like that is, "what I'm I suppose to learn from this experience?" |

What kind of bad things? We all have different pain tolerances and sensitivity. |

I'd never really thought about it that way and you have point. However the opposite of "why me" may
not necessarily be "why not someone else", it could also simply be "why anyone?" |
