I hate horror movies. There is no real plot. |

Horror movies are degrading and a threat to civilization.
It is commonly known that any living being is affected by what he sees and what he hears. In having
heard cuss words, seeing violence, and hearing violence, those become a part of any man's life.
Those perverted sounds and images flash across his mind and takes him away from the truly enjoyable
things in life.
Perhaps some of you have read Will Durant's, The Story of Civilization. In the first volume, Our
Oriental Heritage, Durant brings up the fact the Assyria's glory in violence assisted in bringing
its demise. Anytime a civilization takes glory in violence and holds it as entertainment, the
people begin to adapt the attributes that they glorify.
Debauchery is one the few destructive ends of civilizations that government is allowed to put an end
to. Horror movies degrades the mind, body, and soul. It does not matter how "mature" one thinks he
is, he is affected by what he witnesses.
Another fact to consider: Are we going to let China's civilization beat us? |

Horror movies are good because they intrest people and you dont have to watch them if you dont like
them and suck it up |

Not really. You'd have one hell of an uprising on your hands if that happened. |

It's censorship, which i never agree with. |

Horror movies are becoming some weird trend. It's great...I love it. It gives me something to
laugh at along with all the gore =D |

If people choose to watch horror films and don't like them then that is no reason why the should be
banned. They could just not watch them, I tend to steer clear because I don't like them or watch
them with my boyfriend. Horror films are for a certain type of audience and they enjoy these sort
of fims, no one has the right to take it away.
And if people do bad things and say it was because of a recent film they just watched there is
clearly something already wrong with them and nothing to do with the film. Most regular people watch
Saw and don't decide to go and kill or torture people. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
If people want to get scared out of their mind let them. Horror movies aren't telling people to go
out and do bad things and if if they were there's a thing very few people know about anymore, but
its called "will power". We should all try it sometime.
This is like saying we should ban Snow white because it encourages kissing to 4-year-olds. My gosh. |

Give me a break. There is nothing that people do now that they didn’t do before horror movies
existed. |

HAHA K horror movies don't cause any mental distress its how their parents/guardians/friends react
to them that tells how it will effect the child. If the parent reacts badly and freaks out or hides
during a scary movie the child is going to follow suite and react in the same way. We don't need
less horror movies we need stronger parents. |
| |
|
| |
|

I totally disagree. Scary movies are made for that adrenaline rush, you don't get in a drama, or a
romance. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Give me a break! I've been watching horror films my whole life and I'm a normal person. I'm a single
father of an 11 year old daughter who also enjoys horror films (although I won't let her watch too
many yet).
The genre of movies that should be banned is the romantic comedies- talk about scary! |
| |
|

Too much of anything is bad, so what can we say is really good? |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
If horror movies were banned, than what type of movie would have a girl clutching onto you and her
face up against your body?
But anyhow, people enjoy being scared. Do horror movies have a negative effect? Perhaps, but
everything good also has a bad side. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Horror movies have a place in our lives just as everything else. Sometimes we need the diversion of
having the heck scared out of us. If you don't like them, don't watch them. |
| |
|

In case it's an idea you're completely unfamiliar with, there's a concept called personal
responsibility. Read reviews and look at the warnings: If it's going to offend your
sensibilities, don't watch it.
Or are you one of those fascists who says other people shouldn't watch it because you don't approve
of it? Just because you can't handle it doesn't mean other people shouldn't watch it.
But if you do want justification for banning horror films, compare them to the buybull. The
violence in that book - mass murder, rape, slavery, torture, mutilation, descriptions of hell and
eternal torment, etc. - are far worse than any horror movie.
Just look at the results of Christianity: Nazism, anti-semitism, slavery, the KKK, priests who
molest children, etc. Maybe you have a point after all.
Edit: As per usual, the Christians go into full denial. To borrow from Bob Dylan:
"How many lies must a christian tell, before he admits to the truth...?"
For the wilfully ignorant, the most strenuous anti-Jewish sentiment is a result of another German,
Martin Luther, the "father"of the reformation, whose second most famous christian book was, "The
Jews And Their Lies". Hitler regularly quoted from Luther, as do most anti-semites.
Edit:
Yet another godbot lies and denies.
What do you think "gott mitt uns" means, godbot? It was on the belt of every SS uniform. At the
same time, newly carved swastikas adorned churches old and new across Germany and other occupied
countries. The Swiss, US, and UK, all "christian" countries, turned boatloads of jews back to
Germany early in the war, even after they knew what was going on. And the catholic cult's leader
Pius XII blessed Hitler while knowing full well what was being done to jews.
Claiming that Hitler was an atheist is like claiming Hitler didn't murder six million jews. You
obviously believe both statements are true.

A horror movie is yet another good genre of cinema. Just like few people enjoy genres like romance,
drama, action or thriller like the same way there are many who enjoy horror movies. It is just the
fact that some get really scared after watching a horror movie but for them it is advisable to avoid
horror movies. But for reasons like this there should not be a ban on these movies. After all they
are basically movies which are meant to entertain a certain class or type of audience in a not so
very common way. This category of audience may not like the other genres of music, but for this
reason should the other genres be banned. The same way there is no logic to ban horror movies as
there are many people who really enjoy watching horror movies. |

I don't think so. Horror movies are the best, parents just really need to control what their
children are watching. |

Many of the best horror films in recent years have been Asian so it's sad to see the Chinese
government impose this ban. Potentially it will prevent some fine films from coming into existence.
It's worth noting that most of the Asian horror films I've seen don't even engage in much explicit
or gory violence. They tend to be more subtly psychological.
I think this is a foolish mistake on the part of the Chinese government. However, we shouldn't get
carried away in condemnation without knowing more. For example, are they planning to ban all horror
movies or just some? We shouldn't forget that horror films are still banned or censored in the West
too so it's not just the action of an evil, authoritarian government.
As Heine once almost said, "Where they burn horror movies, they will, in the end, also burn people." |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
That's just idiotic on the part of the Chinese government, part of a whole long list of stupid
things they've done. There's nothing wrong with horror movies, people have a right to watch what
they wish without others trying to tell them otherwise. |

I don't think that we should follow China's lead when it comes to banning horror films, or any other
movies, music or books, as for that matter. On the other hand, I find the concept behind horror
films--namely, the idea of turning a viewer's stomach with repulsive images and gory scenes--to be
both sad and quite disturbing. Horror films often come up very short in terms of well developed,
thoughtful plots and characters. The emphasis, however, is purely on make-up and special effects.
Most horror films are rated "R" for violence, so the onus is on parents to ensure that their
underage children do not watch these movies, especially without adult supervision. Instead of
banning these film altogether, DVD rental outlets should ask clients to present an ID card, if they
seek to borrow material that is rated "R." |

I disagree. Some of the greatest movies were horror movies. I think that people need to learn to
deal with horror movies and learn how to distinguish fact from fiction. I agree that they are not
appropriate for children or for all audiences; however that is no reason to ban them completely.
Parents need to control what their children watch on television and in the movies. I also think that
the schools should do a better job in teaching fact from fiction. Too many people take movies
literally. They are for entertainment purposes. Maybe they should raise the age requirement for
horror movies to 24. |
