So it's all about eyesight? I think it's more about being lazy and the fact that being lazy seems
to be some God-given right and passage in the minds of some kids today. |

I disagree. Books are better. Television is good when you want to relax, but books are far more
useful, as they educate you and help you to explore your imagination.
Television today consists mainly of reality TV shows. Whilst I have watched a few of these types of
programmes, I have to admit that they are rubbish. They teach you nothing and you are certainly more
likely to get something out of reading a book.
Not all books have small print, and watching television is probably worse for your eyes than
attempting to read a book with small print! When I read a book, I feel much more inspired and
motivated. When I watch television, I feel aimless and lazy and often find myself thinking that I
should be doing something more productive with my time.
Television is good for catching up with the news and there are some good programmes, but a book will
teach you much more. You can improve your vocabulary, expand your imagination and gain far more
inspiration from a book than from sitting watching television.
People who have no time to read books should set some time aside and try doing so, because otherwise
they are missing out on a truly worthwhile experience. |

No because books build vocabulary. |

Inability to read fine print is one of the most bizarre defenses of TV that I have ever encountered
…
I can almost guess how old this debate proposer is: Mid- to late-20s? Pardon my ageism, but this is
a classic example of why teens are now graduating from high school as functional illiterates.
TV is “the opiate of the masses,” just like Karl Marx said about religion. It reduces the
populace to the lowest common denominator -- passive receivers of Madison Avenue’s products. Just
like newspapers, TV is not designed to deliver information. It is an advertising vehicle, period.
Here’s a challenge to you TV addicts: Turn it off for one week, and see what changes. You may be
forced to talk to your kids and spouse, take a walk, play a board game, even -- HORRORS! -- strain
your eyes by reading the tiny print of a book. |

I tend to like books better. I do enjoy watching educational shows, on the science channel and
discovery channel. While there is a lot of junk on TV, there are always some good shows on that you
can learn a lot from. |

Books are good for your mind and makes you think and gets your imagination working! All tv does (yes
even in nature channels) turn your brain into mush! |

Yeah, books are better for your brain and cognitive development. TV is nothing but concentrated
brain-rot. |

In books, you stretch your imagination.
That's good for your brain!!! |
