What we typically refer to as the universe, i.e. The thermal expansion representing time and space
as we understand it is not infinite, though quite large. It is about 125 billion galaxies in an
expanding sphere that is perhaps 93 billion light years across right now. As to a larger framework
as posited by multiverse or chaotic inflation models it is of course impossible for us to know at
this time and probably couldn't be meaningfully quantified anyway. |

It is unknown whether it is or not. It is a case of putting Schrodinger's cat theory to it where a
cat is in a box with a vial of poison which will break and kill the cat when a radioactive source
decays by half. Because we don't know the half life of the source and how long it takes, we can
assume that the cat is said to be both dead and alive as we cannot say for sure until we open the
lid. As we haven't studied the entire Universe it is hard to say, but I don't see why the Universe
can't be (tommyg :( ). |
