Thank you.
I have to agree with that wholeheartedly. |

You're right. The idea that the bible is inspired by god is the lamest explanation I've heard.
It's great that there are more christians that question their faith, because if people didn't
question, where would humanity be? |

Finally someone who understands their religion for what it is. |

The Bible is a remarkably complex collection of free-standing books, letters and other documents,
written by a range of people in different times and for vastly different audiences. The New
Testament as we have it today was formed through a process of selection, where hundreds of books
were discarded as non-canonical, and only 27 were actually included.
There really is no doubt that the Bible contains numerous flaws. Additionally, it may not always be
clear what the practising Christian should take literally, and what is merely of symbolic nature.
This is perhaps why it is so important that people engage in private interpretation with a great
deal of caution, and try to supplement this with the thoughts of theologians.
Despite the inaccuracies in the Bible and the fact that it was ultimately written by humans, I do
still believe that the central message of redemption through suffering and salvation for all is, in
fact, divinely inspired, even if the actual words were written by fallible humans. |

Absolutely correct. It is clearly not "the word of God". It is a great book, both as a story and
in regard to literature. As Hizashi says it is so nice to hear from a religious person who is well
grounded. Perhaps if more were like you people would treat Christians with a little more patience. |

The Bible was written by ancient peoples using a lot of primitive ideas and taking concepts from
other religions that surrounded them. There's no question whatsoever that the Bible is terribly
flawed. |

I agree. The only thing the Bible is inspired by is the beliefs and ideas of those who crafted it.
It’s actually comforting to see someone who isn’t afraid to question the essence of their own
faith for a change. |

How the heck is the Bible NOT inspired by God? Isn't he the whole point of the book? He's pretty
much the main guy throughout the Old Testament. In the New Testament his son, Jesus, is pretty much
the main guy, but God is still mentioned profusely. If God isn't it's inspiration, then what is? |

The Bible was originally inspired by God, but human imperfections (and in some cases, schemes) have
caused some things to be taken out or twisted. |

God is not stupid as we are. God is perfect and does not make mistakes. If we can't
understand his ways, that's our problem. Someday we will, even if it would be too late for
us already. Again, God is perfect and does not make mistakes. He chose people and
still does to carry out the mission of His Kingdom. The people he chooses can be stupid in
nature, but the grace of God makes them do perfect things just like God because
they're inspired and touched by God. Moses is the best example of stupid or ignorant people
carrying out God's plans to carry out the mission. Jesus, on the other hand, is not
stupid or ignorant because Jesus is a divine human being and not just a human being. Satan
on the other hand is not stupid or ignorant and was a divine being but, thought he could outsmart or
overpower God and all the celestial beings and that's why he ended up being who he is today. |

God is the driving force of the bible. Without his direction it would have never existed. |

To be a christian you have to believe what the bible says. Otherwise there's no faith |
