No. Somethings yes. For example knowing how dickens creates tension in the signalman or how Dulce et
decorum est and the charge of the light brigade are different and how to work out
(x+6)(x+9) ( =x2 + 15x + 54)
i don't see how it will help in life.
Other things are okay.
Food helps you know how to cook.
Business for money.
ICT becasue it comes up everywhere.
(some) maths shows yo how to work out percentage or how much carpet to fill a room.
ETC ETC
College is better because you can specify what subject and there is a wider variety of things to
do.
Computing, Hair and beauty, Mechanics. Etc etc |

With out school we would all be stupid! |

No without school we wouldn't have doctors or new machines or n.e.thing!! |

Pointless?
I don't think so. If you would rather be sitting outside in the freezing cold with a carboard saying
homeless please donate money then you would realise if school is important. School gives you the
chance to make you be someone in life. |

Yeah, it sure is pointless if you don't want to go into a good career (of course, "good" is
debatable...)
Would you rather start working at age four or five? Heh, that sure wouldn't be fun. School is
definitely better and more important than that. |

Do any of you kids on the other side of this debate ever notice that none the adults on this side,
who have already suffered through an education, seem to believe we wasted our time? Stay in school
and since you’re there anyway you might try learning something for the heck of it. |

Inevitably, students learn something. |

If it was pointless then you wouldn't have been able to spell the debate |

School is for people to get an education. People that EARN their education get PAID. ( Do you see
where I'm going with this?) Without school a lot of us wouldn't know how to talk and our government
would be more jacked up than it already is. Also without school everyone would still be racist
toward each other.
School for me is my home away from home. You must be REALLY stupid if you think that school is
pointless. |

I am against this;
School is for learning.
Life is all about learning. On-going. |

Its is not only good for intellectual education, (sp), it is also good for you social education, you
need to learn how to deal with emotional issues which you do at school with your friends. |

This debate and others like it are really alarming. It is a reflection of the overall attitudes of
kids these days. On a personal level, I worry for my kids because with these attitudes the future
generations won't be smart enough to stay alive. |

I'm tired of seeing countless debates about school being pointless. No it isn't! It's not as if it
takes up a large portion of your life! I fail to understand why so many people moan about it,
instead of just accepting the fact that school is there to help you learn. If you're complaining
about school now, I don't know how you're going to cope when it comes to the time when you have to
go into the world of work, pay bills, feed a family etc. That's a lot harder than school!
You go to school to get an education. If you cannot be bothered to listen to what you are being
taught, then you will fail miserably and have trouble progressing with your education, which you
need to get a decent job.
I agree completely with what techguy93 said. There are children in 3rd world countries who would
give anything to have the chance to go to school and learn, instead of the lives they have. So the
next time you're sitting in lesson and you're bored, think about those poor children and appreciate
that you have been given a chance to have an education and make something of your life! |

School is not pointless. School makes you an interesting and informed person. Without school, you
wouldn't be able to read or write, and you would probably speak poorly. You couldn't drive because
you couldn't read road signs. You couldn't buy things because you wouldn't be able to count money.
You wouldn't even be able to get a good job, Also, in 3rd world countries, children would love to be
able to go to school if they could. I remember that Oprah once asked someone, if you could have
anything you want, what would it be? The person replied that she wanted a uniform so that she could
go to school. In conclusion, school is not only important, but a privilege. |

No because you learn quite a bit. |

Even though school may seem dull and pointless, not only does it enhance your basic education, but
you learn socially as well. |

Hell no! School provides essential academic and social knowledge! It gives growing, young people
the chance to test the boundaries and become good citizens. Let me put it this way: Without school,
or any educational system, there would be no advances in society, technical or social, the economy
would collapse from mass unemployment on the grounds that no one can get a decent job, and the world
would be in chaos. Basically. |

No school is not pointless, you learn in school, if you don't learn you don't get a good job, etc. |
