Well if it was, it wouldn't be considered illegal if it was ok, now would it? |

I stand firmly on the grounds that illegal downloading IS stealing. There are a lot of struggling
bands out there and if you steal there songs from them and not give them any money for it, thay
might not be around much longer... |

There are way too many people who think it is "OK" to do something "Illegal" our prison system is
overcrowded with them. |

No, it's called stealing. If you want free music, go to YouTube, or by the freakin' songs! |

At the end of the day it takes money out of the pocket of the artist. If you like the music then you
should have respect for the artist. |

Even if I liked any of it I wouldn't down load it. Why put yourself in the wrong? |

It's wrong, but I will still continue to due it until the day I die. Illegal downloading is a large
part of my life. I just finished downloading the new terminator and the star trek movie. |

"Okay" and "legal" are two different things.
In some countries, free downloading is legal. In some, it is not.
Whether or not it is "okay", is another matter. If you don't mind ripping off the artists and
robbing them of something of theirs you are enjoying that they put a lot of hard work into, then
it's fine. But if you want to pay them for their hard work, then you don't download.
The other issue is that if everyone downloaded music for free, there would be no incentive to create
music when all it will do is drain you of money. So those bands you steal from and enjoy will stop
producing music, and no new artists will take their place.
Another issue is that in America, downloading music is illegal. So the people who operate Limewire
and sites like it are clearly not above doing illegal things, such as embedding Trojan horses
(disguised viruses) inside your mp3s, and most people don't even know they have them, while many do
have them
So if you don't care about music or your computer, downloading mp3s is okay. But if you care about
keeping your computer safe and musicians in business, there is no reason to. |

I have paid for every song I have ever downloaded. I am petrified to use limewire. Too many
viruses. I have good security on my computer, but I still stay away from those sites. I don't
think that paying a dollar for a song is all that bad. If I bought CD's I would save some money,
but would have some songs that I didn't care for. I find it to be convenient to pay only for songs
I want. The artists who dedicate their lives to music should be paid royalties on their songs.
If one lives in a country where it is legal, they are legally allowed to download free songs or pay
less for downloads. That's fine, but I don't really want to break the law. I know a lot of teens
download free music and I know that they don't always have the money to purchase the songs. It is
still illegal though and I would be mortified if the police showed up at my house to tell me that
one of my kids was downloading free music. I would rather buy it for them when I have the money to
do so. I would go without and give them the money for their music, movies and TV shows before I
would encourage them to acquire them illegally. |

I would rather buy a CD.
My son is a guitarist. He likes to get pay for his hard work. |

I don't give a zip about record labels losing money due to piracy, but the artists lose money from
it too, and frankly illegal is illegal. The argument that it's OK because everybody else is doing
it is the same argument used to justify underage binge drinking, hazing, packs of sexual harrassers,
etc. It's still illegal regardless of how many people are doing it. |
