It Is OK To Spank A Child
I believe that children on occasion need to be spanked to know you are serious. They all test to see what there limits are and how much they can get away with. I also believe they want to see if you really care or not.

I believe a spank on the well-padded posterior of a defiant toddler is a quick and efficient way to get their attention and modify their behaviour. It's less distressing than wrestling with a kid to try and keep them in "time-out.," but not as hilarious as those parents who try to "reason" with their 3-year-old.

Temper tantrums should be addressed by ignoring the child. The more attention they get, the worses the tantrums become. There is no unbiased evidence that spanking children causes them to become more aggressive.

Used to be, anyone in the neighbourhood could punish a child for misbehaviour. Now, it seems that parents get miffed if other people merely tell a child to stop doing whatever idiotic behaviour they're engaged in.

Yeh i think its okay....as long as its just a spank .. Not like actually beat the living day lights out the poor child

Yes by their parents it is acceptable. People who have been spanked learn about discipline and morals and grow up to be well balanced adults.

 I disagree. Kids who learn good morals grow up to be well balanced adults DESPITE being spanked.

People are so afraid of child abuse anymore because they classify child abuse as anything that leaves a red mark on your child. Let me tell you, if you spank your child, it is going to leave a red mark on their butt. I think the laws are getting out of hand in regards to this. Don't get me wrong, I hate spanking my kids but sometimes they do need it. Especially at a young age, it is hard to teach them any other way. After age 4 a child really shouldn't be spanked anymore, time outs are just as effective.

It is NEVER OK to spank a child. Not only does it not work, It teaches the child that it is OK to hit when you're mad or if somebody doesn't listen to you. No one respects their abuser(s).

Children learn from their parents...how can you spank them, then tell them that hitting is wrong...doesn't that confuse them?

Should adult children be able to spank or hit their senior citizen parents? Or is it only legal to hit the defenseless?

Anyone who thinks hitting kids is a solution to disciple lacks the maturity to handle kids. Such people should be sterilized so they can't have any kids.
