Everybody.... LISTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Global warming is a real threat and humans are the MAIN contributors, the Earth is going through a cycle yes, but humans have put the cycle way out of its original pattern, so we have to work and stop greenhouse gasses and get rid of our dependency on crude oil, before it is to late. We cant reverse the damage, but we can stop it from progressing further.

Why should we care? The way I read it on this site, our existence is kinda stupid anyway. Are we sure we shouldn't just have the best time we can while frying the planet?

Don't answer that. I think we should be nice to everything....just not sure why.

Yes it is because it contains resources, our lives and humans in it.
We need to handle this right now!!!!!!

Global warming does exist, but it is natural.
Yes humans are contributing, but not by much.
And is more CO2 in the air really a bad thing?
If I were a plant, I'd be growing like crazy.

Global warming is not just about what may or may not result from it. It is an important issue because it is a challenge for humanity to overcome - the greatest challenge of this century. We have to devote more time and money into finding solutions to global warming.

you mean we should give more money to environmental groups, so they can buy ferrai's and say they're working on it? I don't think so.

Yah! The polar ice caps are melting.

Actually, just the small areas they are telling us about are melting. most places are increasing in ice mass due to advanced precipitation.

Yes, it is, because it affects us all. Look at the poor polar bears having to swim farther to get to a solid platform because of melting. What have they done to deserve it? It matters very much.

And who told you this? Al Gore? You should check your sources.

It is an important issue, it the cause carbon dioxide build up, doubt it. Does man effect the climate, yes, but not as the Gore movie put forward.

I agree so much that global warming is important, and people should recycle and do more to keep our air, and earth clean, that i am writing a essay on it! This is important and it will probably wipe out all of us!

Global warming as we all know is the process in which there is a rise in temperature of the earth. The process though takes place in many years but still it is an issue which is to be dealt with proper attention. If we try to look out for the changes every often we will not be able to do so as global warming is a very lengthy process and it takes 1500 years to have a complete global warming effect. But the changes are noticeable in a span of almost 15-20 years. Like if we look 15 years back from now we will definitely be able to realize that at that time the earth’s temperature was not that warm as it is now. But the present day the temperature is getting warmer day by day. Thus we can feel that the global warming effect is there.

Global warming is already affecting the world we know, endangering polar bears, shortening ski seasons and creating more intense storms. We know how to fix this problem and prevent a global environmental disaster. Get on our interactive map to share your concerns about a warmer planet, and find global warming solutions that you can put into action today.

Why wouldn't it be important? Oh wait I forgot we are selfish, and inadequate to deal with the consequences of our actions. How many people can actually say we could survive without gas, electricity, and cars? We are so dependent it's ridiculous. I'm guilty of it as well, so we are all in trouble when it runs out.

the only selfish people are the people peddling these lies that global warming is a threat, who are doing so to get more money. and the oil companies are not much different, except that the afore mentioned "enviromentalists" are more popular

Global warming is definitely occurring rather we want to acknowledge it or not. It is something that is beginning to affect our every day lives right now. Our winters are colder and our summers are warmer. It is thought that within the next fifty years or so, it will get warm enough to melt the artic. If this occurs, the melted snow will turn to water and come south covering much of our land. Cities and towns will be wiped out forever. If this does continue to occur, our entire civilization could eventually be wiped out. So, this is something we should be concerned about. It may not affect us much right now, but it is something that will definitely affect our grandchildren.

Global warming is an issue that is important to the level of being critical. The swift climatic change is something that is caused not by a natural cycle. It is true that climatic changes take place on regular basis but the speed of change is not as swift as it is today. The reason of this unnaturally fast pace of climatic change is the unchecked emission of harmful gases in the air and the high level of land, air and water pollution. This means that we are inviting this trouble on the planet that may get out of hand in a few decades if we do not realize our error and change our ways while we still can.

See, here's the thing: Whether or not you believe global warming is occurring, you have to acknowledge the fact of what happens in the long run. There's 4 possible scenarios.

1. Global warming DOESN'T exist, and we DO try to prevent it. Result: We lose time and money.

2. Global warming DOESN'T exist and we DON'T try to prevent it. Result: Nothing.

3. Global warming DOES exist and we DO try to prevent it. Result: Human capability to cope with the change.

4. Global warming DOES exist and we DON'T try to prevent it. Result: Human suffering, economic failure, a roadblock to technological and industrial advancement, and you can argue whatever else may be the result of global warming.

So now it's no longer a question of whether or not exists, but whether or not we're willing to take a chance. In the long run, does it matter if you're right or wrong? Because in the big picture, it's whether or not you're willing to risk Case 4 against 3 cases with not-so-bad results.

I think global warming is the greatest threat the human race has ever faced. It will probably wipe out or entire civilisation in this century, regardless of what we now try and do about it. I don't mean to suggest that we will have become extinct by the century's end. But those of us still alive will be fighting a raw struggle for survival. We won't be in the position of existential comfort needed to make scientific, cultural, and maybe even moral, progress.

The only real hope is for some quasi-magical technological solution, a la cold fusion, to come along and save us. But that seems unlikely.

The planet has been through much more extreme temperature changes, and none of them have wiped out a single species. This current warming is neither extreme nor man made, and I expect that a warmer climate will increase growing seasons, causing civilization to prosper.

Would anybody here who supports the green movement keep supporting it if they knew it was not climate change causing food riots, but the policies of their leaders?

In case anyone has seen "An Inconvenient Truth," I need to point out that the movie is filled with fallacies and mislabeled statistics. In addition, there have been numerous cycles of extreme climate changes in the history of the earth. This is simply another natural run through that cycle. Consider the woolly mammoth they found frozen. It was standing. That means a sudden freeze occurred and not because of fossil fuels in the atmosphere. This world was made in such a way that it slowly cycles through climate changes over time. There is simply no point to run the US economy into the ground to try to slow something that we do not affect and we will not change
