Fashion Is Ready For A Disabled Model
When people hear about models they automatically think.. Tall .slim and long flowing hair..Could a disabled model make it in the fashion industry? I think 100% that they could..they are just as beautiful as everyone else..Beauty and fashion industry needs to open their eyes and see beauty isn't just about being tall..slim and totally "flawless" If a disabled person has a dream to model.. They should be able to persure that dream with an equal chance as anyone else.. Agree?

How about a mentally handicapped one? Like the kid for "life goes on" that would be great, we could pay her in monopoly money.

I agree that they should be able to do modeling as all people should be treated fairly and equally. Though as with a lot of discrimination it will probably not happen because people think their way is right and don't want to listen to others. That is the true tragedy.

Omg i never thought of that! That is the sweetest thing ever! Beauty doesn't matter what you look like its whats on the inside...i know you hear that a lot but its true! If you don't think so then your a sickened twisted mind.

Okay. Go find a disabled model. Lets see how that goes for her...........modelling is a dog's life, not fun the way it would appear to be.
It is just a JOB. Nothing exciting!

Beauty does come in all sizes and ages. It should not matter if you are disabled or not, you should be allowed to model. Lots of times, different health problems keep disabled women from modeling because sometimes it is a long and exhausting process. But, if capable, there should be nothing holding a disabled woman or man back.

I agree. Everyone should be given a chance when it comes to modelling. You're right in saying that it shouldn't just be about tall and slim people. After all, everyone wears clothes so therefore there should be different types of models!

Probably. If the disabled model had it forced down her throat at a early age that she must dress like barbie and act happy constantly and that she MUST show off for others to be happy then I'm sure we could have a disabled model. This is mentally disabled only though i didn't consider physically.

Unfortunately, people still stigmatise disability, and clothes worn by a disabled person may not look particularly attractive to the general media.

Modeling is job, an occupation, a position is which one must be qualified. The term "model" sums is up. A model is representation and is not necessarily a true depiction of what is real. The purpose of modeling is to display clothing. An audience looking at a disabled person will probably be looking at their disability and not the clothing....The purpose is defeated.

Models are arguably supposed to serve either one of two purposes :
1/ To show how clothes would look when worn by an ordinary person.
2/ To represent a perfect ideal of beauty.

A disabled model wouldn't serve either of these purposes. Disabled people are not typical. Even among the disabled population, there is a wide variety of disabilities. How clothes look on one disabled person is completely different from how they would look on another.

Disabled people also, clearly, do not represent an ideal of beauty.

In addition, models are really supposed to show off the clothes. With a disabled model, attention would inevitably be focused on the model rather than the clothes, defeating the whole purpose.

I think disabled models are a terrible ideal. Almost no one would really want to see them, only put up with them out of charity. It be would like the Paralympics, a fundamentally misconceived way of expressing sympathy.
