Although I'm not personally offended by it, and in fact I've listened to Cradle of Filth, marilyn
Manson, Atreyu, and Slipknot from your list, BUT clearly some people are offended and that would
include Christians. YET the fact it is offensive means nothing. The bands have every right to
express themselves with that music, fans have every right to listen to it, and as long as it's not
forced upon others it really doesn't matter at all what the Christians or anyone else thinks about
it.
So your debate statement is true, but the impact of the claimed offense really doesn't matter. |

LOL it's totally not offensive...I love listening to metal and I'm a Catholic.
I take it this doesn't include "Christian" metal either? Even though a lot of it sounds similar to
the bands you mentioned...

Then explain how all kinds of people, with all kinds of stereotypes, would be offended by Marilyn
Manson.
What do you mean by offended? I'm a Christian and I think Marilyn Manson is funny. Some of their
music rocks. Same with Slipknot. King Diamond is downright hilarious. I've been making fun of
Abigail for years.
I prefer Maiden, Megadeth, old Metallica, Testament, Slayer... Old school. I like my metal with a
little space between the cracks.
I guess I find the heavy chorus blend of todays metal a little offensive because I don't like to be
bored. |
