Interpretations Of The Ten Commandments Are Controversial.
It is pretty shocking when you read a religious workbooks interpretations of the commandments. For example for the commandment "Thou shall not commit adultery", I was surprised to learn that what is classified as a sin in that commandment went way beyond cheating on your spouse.

What's really surprising is the ignorance of most Christians about their own religion.

There are at least five different versions of the "ten condom-ends". Here's one of them:

1. No other covenants (exodus 34:10-16)
2. No idols (34:17)
3. Feast of Unleaven (34:18)
4. Firstborn (34:19-20)
5. Don't appear before God empty handed (34:20)
6. Sabbath (34:21)
7. Harvest Festivals (34:22-24)
8. No eating blood (34:25)
9. Best Offerings (34:26)
10. No Goat in its mother's milk (34:27)

Notice that it says nothing about adultery or coveting.

Until the godbots get their stories straight, they have no business trying to tell other people how to live.

Ya, everything having to do with interpretations of religious texts is controversial.

Mainly has to do with translation and updating/ applying it to current times, really...

Yea, that's pretty much the nature of the bible. People get the tendency to think that they've found some new light and so they can this or they can that. That's why no one likes to talk about the bible or religion. Religion becomes this super power abstraction that you either agree with or disagree with or don't care about. When in fact you're right. Everything is up to interpretation, and that interpretation is always controversial. Thinking that you can apply that controversy to your advantage is where things start to get sticky.

Adultery is very simple. It is a married person having sex with someone who is not your spouse. Don't try to use the Bill Clinton defence, it doesn't hold water. When you interpret the Bible, you not only go to the language it was written in, but must also consider the customs of the times.
