Ever notice insurance companies have the nicest buildings in a city? Why aren't they working out of
a steel shed and passing better deals onto us?
OK, I know not everything about insurance is a scam. I'm glad when it helps me out, I'm glad I have
health insurance, etc. But it's clearly not just a benevolent exercise - they make big money. And
their are countless cases of them sticking it to the little guy while they're living it up. |

Insurance is a big scam, but what would you do without it. It sucks that somebody somewhere one day
decided that they should charge people to borrow money if they ever need it in the event of an
accident. I mean the core idea was great but then they keep raising the prices, it is ridiculous.
And like the debate states, if you ever get in an accident, they charge you more...... What are you
paying them monthly for? I mean, you probably get in maybe 1-2 accidents your whole life! You know
how much money they are making off of just one person? Our laws just suck sometimes. |

I couldn't agree with myself more. Insurance is a huge scam. |

Its necessary in a credit based middle class dominated society where most people can't pay for
accidents out of pocket. |

Insurance isn't a scam, everyone knows what it is. You are paying them to take your risk. Without
insurance the average person will get through life cheaper. That is the cost of say car insurance is
higher than the cost of the average persons car crash costs. However no-one is the average guy, some
people will never crash, others will crash every couple of years, maybe just down to bad luck
(especially with things like health insurance). Since we don't know which type we will be, we decide
(or don't, most insurance isn't legally required) to pay someone else to take the risk we may be
involved in more crashes, and pay them the difference between the average crash cost and our
premiums.
In short, the difference between average insurance costs and average crash costs is not a scam, it
is us playing them to take the risk. As a collective they win, but as individuals we shouldn't mind. |

Insurance is best appreciated in blackjack. Its easy to hope the dealer won't get 21 right away but
if you pay for insurance then you're protected. But with medical insurance... It's all about the
big accidents. The accidents insurance will fight tooth and nail to not have to pay. But if your
'legitimate' and your 'current' on payments and they're OBLIGATED to insurance can pay you back
tenfold. And those are what makes everyone else's insurance so expensive. The only reason i say
its not a scam is because I'm assuming the money gets reinvested and gone through proper
channels.
The stock market seems like more of a scam to me than insurance. I think where the scam of
insurance comes in is the government demanding that you have to have it. |
