If you cant make a decent argument, don't try. Just insulting the other person or their arguments
doesn't prove anything other than the fact that you cant come up with a decent argument yourself. If
you cant stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen. |

It's true, insults do not prove a point. I think people start tossing insults when they're too
frustrated to say anything logical to support their point. |

Attacking the person instead of the debate is unnecessary. As a member of the audience or a judge
on a panel, I notice those things very quickly. The first one to distance him or herself from the
topic by insulting the other will get a negative mark. |

People who don't like losing and and happen to be losing at a debate that require a sense of
knowledge or rationale are most likely to start firing insults. They don't prove anything, all they
prove is that the other person is right. |

Insults don't make people change their minds if they know they have good reasons and evidence for
their position. They don't prove anything except the stupidity and shallowness of the insulter. |

I'd insult you for saying that, but the moderators usually take those down. There's got to be a
reason for that. |

Good point, Grenache. The discipline of good thinking and good argumentation is perhaps a thing of
the past, just look at US political debate. |

I agree with you. Many people do not know how to get their thoughts across, so they get frustrated,
and the insults fly. They think this how debating works. An intelligent, mature individual will see
the humor in it..Those who insult, etc..cannot |

Insults don't really contribute to an argument. They really don't apply, unless your arguing about
whose the better person. |
