Though growing rapidly, India is still a primitive country. I don't believe any rate of economic
growth that can realistically be achieved will raise it above US levels within 10 years.
Much of the boom in the Indian economy is the result of Western outsourcing. As its standard of
living begins to approach Western levels, its outsourcing staff will cease to be much cheaper than
Western workers. Because of this outsourcing will ease off, and may even move into reverse. This
will dampen the country's growth prospects. |
