What's the problem with it? Other than the increased chance of genetic disease (which the poster
pointed out), there's no actual issues beyond social taboos. And the increased chance of genetic
disease can be countered by screening. Both partners can be checked for the possibility of passing
on a disease, and then they can have an embryo implanted that doesn't have the genetic disease. Or
they can just not have kids.
The issue of morality is entirely a matter of opinion. You don't see many people dating their sister
or brother or aunt or uncle or parent or grandparent or cousin, so you think it's abnormal. You're
told by your parents, your society, and your religion that it's a sin, so you say it is. But it's
all a social thing. To one group, incest is a sin. To another, it's no big deal and nothing to get
worked up about. Who are you to say that one's correct and another's wrong? Majority rules? The
minority (the incestuous and their allies) are wrong and abnormal and should be put down? Whichever
side your on is automatically correct, no question?
Life doesn't work like that. The only things that can truly be described as evil are hating someone
for being different and doing something without the affected's consent, unless they took away the
consent of another and you're not going with vigilante justice.
If it's a consensual relationship between two humans, what's the problem? |

I can't say it's ever been described as evil in my knowledge. It still happens in rural areas. Not
only is there the health issue, but it breaches the social boundaries too. It's become something of
a taboo, and that is what provokes people into dismissing it. Though, I do have to say, intercourse
with a sibling or family member is too horrific for me to contemplate lol. |

Wrong! While the prevalence and severity of child abuse in the United States has been given an
increasing amount of attention -- attitudes, definitions and statistics continue to vary. The
examination of incest may incite some of the greatest discrepancies, for it remains one of the most
under-reported and least discussed crimes in our nation. An almost international taboo, incest often
remains concealed by the victim because of guilt, shame, fear, social and familial pressure, as well
as coercion by the abuser (Matsakis, 1991). |

I think that incest is wrong on all levels. There is a difference between loving your family and
actually having sexual relations with them. Most of the time, incest is forced, meaning rape,
molestation or pedophelia. All of which I feel are wrong.
I'm glad that the societal veiws in Canada, UK and US share my views on these practices. I believe
that anyone who commits the above mention acts should be put to death! |

It's wrong. You can't be so horribly confused that you would consider reproducing with someone of
the same bloodline. It's well known that not even animals commit incest (as they know it will create
genetic problems) |
